Now that I've got an XB12Ss, my old magnetic Chase Harper tank bag won’t work. The front strap ends up restricting the air intake anyhow, so it really won’t work anymore. Alas, there are many options available. Tank bags, in order of preference: Rapid Transit’s Stack LT Strap: http://www.rapid-transit.com/rt/products.cfm?produ cts_id=2178 Motopak’s GTX-20 Strap: http://motopakluggage.com/gtx20.html Some of the Marsee products have innovative and functional mounting solutions: http://marseeproducts.com/ I’ve decided that I definitely want something “duffelish” that is more functional than a seat specific bag. Tail bags, in order of preference: Wolfman’s Mini Beta or regular Beta bag (might be too big for my tail): http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Tail/MiniBeta.html, http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Tail/BetaRearBag.htm l Kriega’s US-20 with twin US-10 attachments… very clean look: http://www.kriega.com/pages_uk/us20/US20-topframes et.html BC’s own Motopak makes a clean tail bag with engineered attachments as well: http://motopakluggage.com/gttail.html and then plug in a 44L, 60L, or 90L saddlebag configuration! http://motopakluggage.com/gts90.html http://motopakluggage.com/gts60.html http://motopakluggage.com/gts40.html Basically, I need some opinions. Google research hasn’t resulted in any definitive winners. Let me know what you think. |

For a tank bag, you really should look no further than the official Buell tank bag. It fits the airbox perfectly, as it should. As for a duffle style tail bag, I have an Ortlieb bag. I love that it is a waterproof bag. It was designed for the kayak market. I like the fact that it is dust proof. My gear always is fresh and clean. I can't say that about any other bag short of hard cases. http://www.aerostich.com/product.php?productid=171 75&cat=466&page=1 I have a large black duffel, and it fits my cityx just fine. I also have a set of their saddle bags. It is very easy to join the two together. |

Second the buell tank bag. I have one and it fits and works perfect. It has plenty of room and is easily detachable too. |

Hey Ex}P, Calm down! You wait 2 1/2 HOURS and then bail (wail)? Holy cow, the thread originator waited almost 3 DAYS without complaint. I see you're new to the board so you get a pass this time. Give us a list of the other boards you frequent so we can observe the response time on them. They must be really special. |

Mesozoic - I was thinking of getting a Rapid Transit Stack LT strap tank bag. Anyone have any experience with one on an XB? Just got mine today, took it for a ride. Holds a lot of stuff. Pictured it is packed with a full rain suit and a pair of armored riding pants (Joe rocket Alter Ego) and some dress shoes for the office, also all the cordura panels for the jacket I have. Mounting was easy. It is quick detach too. Tons of pockets, doubles as a backpack. } (Message edited by postban on July 03, 2008) |

I finally got my Rapid Transit Stack LT. I've yet to fit it on the bike, though. There's no instructions for this thing, so do you have any suggestions? |

I finally got my Rapid Transit Stack LT. I've yet to fit it on the bike, though. There's no instructions for this thing, so do you have any suggestions? I used the two small straps (with the velvet thing on them) in the front, removed the velvet thing, tied to handlebar, added zip ties (insurance the knots will stay tight). Used the long single strap with two buckle ends for the rear. Just laid it under the seat, adjusted for length and tightened so it holds the bag fairly firm. You could reverse that setup if you choose, either way will work. If I travel without the bag I can remove the rear strap from under the seat and just tuck the front ones behind the console. I will be using it frequently for commuting. Took it for a quick ride on the freeway, no issues. When it is really stuffed full you have to lean forward a little to see bottom of gauges but not too bad. |

Thanks, Postban. The straps don't cover up the intake, eh? |

The straps are right at the left and right side of the intake. The small pad extending forward under them could cover the intake/fuel cap, I have ridden with it like that, no effect I noticed. Front of the bag seems to sit up a little bit due to airbox curvature, holds the flap up off of it. Got about 100 miles on the bag now, I love it. Not having to wear a backpack makes the riding experience a lot better. |

I rode to Mt. Baker from Vancouver, BC the other day with the Stack LT on the bike. Excellent luggage. I need to do some fine tuning on my strap adjustments, though... I find it leans to one side more than the other, but overall it is a very functional piece of luggage for the Buell. Doesn't look too bad either and ditto on not having to ride with a backpack on. Now I'm wondering what to strap onto the rear of the bike when I'm not riding two up. Any suggestions on what works well for the Ss? |

Oh, I forgot to mention something regarding the Stack LT. The front straps can be mounted to the 2 bolts in the front of the airbox cover. Since these points are stationary, they work better than anything mounted on the fork. I run the unused length of strap back and behind the lower part of the bag's cinch strap buckles. Works very well, doesn't flap around or anything. |
