Does anyone have any thoughts on a power commander? Has anyone installed one? Do you like? Was it expensive? Is it user friendly? Any feed back is appreciated. |

first power commander dosnt make a unit for buell. second the alternative is a TFI system made by dobeck. i put it on my old xb9r and it totaly messed the fuel system up.. i would not get it. stick with buell made parts. if you are lookinf for more power. do the race chip, exhaust (drummer or spec ops) and the air filter. |

I have an '08 xb12r and this bike is fouling plugs like no tomorrow. I just changed them 3 weeks ago and again today.Dealership is clueless and a friend said maybe mix in a little 105 octane with the 92 octane premium. any thoughts. |

Hey HITMAN Check for a grounded wire at the engine temp sensor. Thats the wire sticking out of the middle of the rear head. If its shorted to ground it tells the ecm its cold and richens up the mixture accordingly. To the point of fouling. Also I happen to know for a fact that my local dealership has replaced 3 '08 ecm due to fault. Also if you dont run your buell up to operating temp every time you ride the plugs tend to foul. Its the nature of the beast. |

I have a 07 xb12x and have had 2 plug changes in less than 2500 miles due to fouling. I have read and acted accordingly to set a warm up time of 2minutes and 30 seconds at least. turn key on,light goes out -hit starter with no throttle at all. i don't even have my hand on it. after that length of time it seems to go ahead and run fine. the truth is get heat on it and keep heat on it without any intervention from me for that first bit of time. I would welcome any ideas of what spark plug to run to help this out or change it. I run ngk's in everything else but i am open to different ideas. |

the direct-link is a much better option than the dobeck. with the latter you can only add fuel, but not take it out. with the direct-link you can add or remove fuel, change ignition timing, etc... a direct-link in addition to a dyno tune would be my recommendation. any kind of generalized map wont net you what a custom tune will. two exactly the same bikes with exactly the same parts, pipes, aircleaner, etc... will not run exactly the same. i work at a shop and send bikes every week to the dyno that i work on. every one is a little different. hope this helps |

Biggest problem with the Buells FI is reliance on TP setting and temp sensor. If TP is off everything is skewed. Temp sensor is no. 1 thing to check according to Al Lighton etal. Also, new plugs available from Buell supposed to help alleviate the fouling problem prevalent with XB's. Power Commander worked we on a Buell --if- you left the closed loop are alone. Changes there skewed all the rest of map. We have some PC's for sale. |
