MCN Used Value guide for Summer 08 only goes back to '95 but shows a '95 FXSTS Springer $5865 "The prices given are for the full retail value of a stock motorcycle. This price best represents a reconditioned or clean, undamaged and well-maintained vehicle ready to be sold by a dealer or between individuals. The value assigned is a national average. All of the values published are intended to be used as guidelines only, and are determined by evaluating sources N.A.D.A. believes to be accurate." |

NADA guides only go back to 2004 on their web site: http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-23-36- 5070-0-0-0&l=1&w=23&p=36&f=5701&m=10&c=1 Kelly Bule Book takes you back to 1970 or so: http://www.kbb.com/kbb/Motorcycles/Retail.aspx Much more generous retail value than the MCN site Edmunds used to have a motorcycle section if I recall correctly. None of the value guides are really accurate and don't really take condition and options and accessories into full account. Scott's bike looks really nice in the pics. Hope you get a fair price out of it. Maybe advertise it locally in the craigslist.com as well and mention the H-D/HOG event as an emotional cue to potential buyers. |

MCN Used Value guide for Summer 08 only goes back to '95 but shows a '95 FXSTS Springer $5865 If you use NADA for my '98 S1 Ligthning it shows to be worth $2,020 for low retail and $2,655 for average retail. I wouldn't even consider parting with it for that, you would have to just about double it to get it from me. The motorcycle prices are way off of what people are actually charging/getting. I was recently looking at getting a 1000cc sportbike, 3 years old or so and they are getting about 2k more than what the books are showing and if you go to an older bike they are getting even more than that over the nada prices. I don't know where they come up with thier value guides but they are almost laughable. |

Thanks guys, Our local Hd Dealer looked at it and said they would put it on the floor for $11,995.00 and he told me he would most likely let it out the door for $11. BUT what he would give me is another sad story. I could trade it in on a buell and the numbers look better. I already have 3, so I am going to sell it. Scott |
