Hopefully someone can shed some light on this, because the H-D shop can't figure it out... Here is my problem. When I try to fire up in the morning, the fuel pump doesn't prime - the engine turns over but doesn't start, so it's not the battery. I can hear the switch click under the seat when I flip the ignition on and it starts just fine later on in the day, so I can't imagine it is a bad switch or fuse. The really frustrating part is that since it ONLY happens in the morning (6:30AM), when it's in the shop (that opens at 10AM) it starts just fine and they can't find anything wrong. The really REALLY frustrating part is that this started happening the day I got the bike back from their shop for it's 2500 mile service! |

Not too much technical with a 2500 mile service. Can't understand what could get messed up for a simple check of electrical functions and switches. Regardless, there are some diodes in the relay center plus three relays for key-on, start and ignition. You might try removing each one and reinstalling them in the same location and position. The idea here is that there might be some contact dirt or corrosion that would be cleaned by removing and reinstalling. If it is still abnormal after this little procedure, then take it back to the dealer and explain exactly what you found, what you did, and that it is still not working after they did the 2500 mile check but it was 100% OK before they touched it. |
