All,

So I was picking up a new rear tail light lens for the ole' X1 and the shop had one of these.

It was a 07' Cherry Bomb Red XB12SsTT or something like that on it. Guy called it a Super TT. What makes it a "Super TT" over a regular TT (which I really like)? Sales guy was a boob, and didn't know Sh-- about Buells.

It's a Uly with shorter suspension and number plates on the side...

NO WAIT

It's an XBS with longer suspension and number plates on the side....

Cheese,

Nope thats not it. I know what a TT is, this thing looks like a Lighting Long, with greater travel in the suspension and does not have the frame mounted front fender. Nor does it have the solo seat of the TT.

It says on the timing cover "Super TT". I can not find "Super TT" on the Buell site.

I called the shop...it is a TT, they took the fender, seat, side number plates, airbox cover, and front screen off and replaced with parts from a Lighting. They did this, he said, because it was too ugly and nobody wanted to buy it. Their words not mine.

Mystery solved.

Heres what it used to look like, from their web site.

It's just stinking incredible. With the tires and it's ability to tear up dirt and gravel...and blacktop......it's the Uly with short suspension and no touring accesories. Get one.

I understand their comment, not sure anyone likes that orange cover, but a dealer could put a white cover on for cheaper than what they did.

Technically, the "TT" *is* the "Super TT" if you read the literature correctly.

Quite possibly my favorite XB, handling and posture-wise. Tuber reincarnated. Shame I needed the utility of the Uly and its bags....and 2 up capability (I know, you can get a seat...but she's not nearly as comfy on the Ss).

The weekend after we pulled the White parts off that bike , the TT sold. Put the black body work on it, and the more traditional Lightning Front fender and it was gone in less than 7 days. It will end up being the Studebaker of the line. There will be people that like it, there will be people that will hate it, but nobody is middle of the road, eh about the bike. (had they had it when I was buying, I would have bought that instead of the CityX, so they missed that sale)

This thread has made me shed tears for my STT.

I love the number plates and the front fender. To each his own. I look at the number plates, airbox, and flyscreen. All I see is an empty canvas!
I did buy the bike primarily for the suspension. But I love riding offroad and the STT embodied just that.

Isn't the major demographic for the XB12STT in Europe? It did have its press release in Milan, Italy!

Semi Silly Question

What is the seat height of the STT?

I know Buell says 31.4", however, how does that compare to "real world"

Thanks

tread marks,thanks but ,
no its just the picture he sent me showing me what my bike will look like when i put the fender eliminator from the xb ss on my ully. plus mines race red. the seat post are the same just needs some drilling and tappn. i have to say matt at trojen horse knows his stuff.
if i had the tt id have stickers and numbers on the numbers plates, and would change the front fender to the street version but thats just me. who knows maybe if i can find some number plates from some one who doesnt want them ill add them to my ullytardfighter project

Yeah, the TTs big advantage that almost everyone who tries one loves is the real world suspension without too much seat height. The rest is easily discarded or changed. The side plates actually make GREAT supports for my side bags....

Does the STT have the Lean condition like the 06-07 Ulys? How does it handle? How much does it cost to add rear pegs?

I'm not one for the Ully's and I don't usually comment on others bikes. But damn Naiguy, that's one tough looking sonbitch.
In particular the:
airbox
exhaust
skid plate?
and chin fairing
I notice some Rizoma on there.

Nice!

Its the bike I would have bought had they had it when I got mine.... The extra clearance and bigger tank, and larger displacement.
So here it is the XB9Sx-tt ; )

Naiguy, my dealer did the same thing to a STT, they sold me the take off parts at a discount because i took the whole package. I ended up selling the few pieces i didn't want to cover the cost of the rest, so it was pretty much free.

I don't know about the lean condition. It does handle well. A little more exaggerated due to the larger travel than the SS or S models. It was a bit plush for my taste, so I changed a few internals in the forks. It does came with a great set of forks and I love the equal travel between front and back. I tend to be real picky about my suspension. (lots of offroad in the past) But I have done less to the forks on this bike then most others that I have owned. Most dealers will throw in the two up kit with the bike. They did with mine.

On the clock neck angle, you have the same as the lightnings, not the extra degrees that the ULY has. I maybe wrong, but I have put both through a tight dime turn, and the Uly gets the better clock turn radius.

Its kind of tough to see but there is a gunsight target on the front wind screen... so if you look in your rearview, all you see is my bullseye ; ) gunnin for ya.

I thought the TT was one tarted up XB too many... but the fast XB guys I know in North Georgia like it and that's all the endorsement it needed for me to change my mind.
