According to the new Fuell magazine (on page 15) my 02 S3T only comes with 91 hp. This is my 2nd S3T (the first being an 00) and I coulda swore Erik wanted my bike to have 101 hp with thunderstorm heads. Someone please tell me if I'm wrong.

101 at the crank?
91 at the rear wheel?

That isn't enough of a drop for crank vs. rear wheel hp.

Sounds like a mistake. Weren't the carbed M2s only listed as 91HP (crank) and the fuel-injected X1s and S3s were 101HP?

I noticed the XB9R thing myself. Only thing I can come up with is that they may have started production in late '01. Mine was a pretty early Firebolt, but it wasn't assembled until April, I think.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it actually made your bike feel less powerful.

Those years are introduction dates not Model Year dates.

As for the HP they may have gotten it confused or a typo...

I'm pretty sure the early S3T (97/98) was a non-thunderstorm bike. The first thunderstorm bike was the 98 S1W, and the first 101hp EFI bikes were 99 at which point the S3/T got the X1 motor.

So..."as introduced" in 1997, the S3T was indeed a 91hp lightning-motored bike.

98 S3/T were 101HP with TStorm heads. The S1WL and S3/T all came with TStorms in 98.

M2s didn't get TStorms until... 99? but had the older "Lightning" cams keeping HP at 91.

According to the specs in the owner's manual for my 99 S3, it is 101 HP

99 was the first year for fuel injection, (S3/T, X1) second year for 101HP TStorm heads (all, I think).

Don't misunderstand, I'm aware Buell claims 101 at the crank for my S3T. I was trying to be sarcastic about the typo. I don't mean to take anything away from the 91hp bikes either. I had a 96 S1 and it ROCKED !!!!!
