Careyj, I bought the 03 9s demo from Kelly whom I've dealt with several times in last few years. I'm financing 3K @ 3.99 if it goes through, my credit is top shelf but don't have much of an income anymore, they may not like that.(semi retired). The only other choise was a low 9s, I'm a little heavy for that! It has 910 miles, I figure its broke in and will have a fresh 1000 mile service. It may have been trashed a little but if it ain't broke by now it probly won't break. Plus they keep after the demo's to insure safety, plus, its still warrantied for a year, plus they are installing new black bodywork even though the yellow still looks new. They have only one 03 left, 9sL, 8500 OTD if any Az bueller is interested go see kelly at Chosa, they are the only dealer in Az as far as I'm concerned! I will be at the fri party. Caryj, My name is Morgan. I am coming to the Torque Fest from Colorado but I didn't register in time to do it on the phone. The person on the phone told me that I could register there at Chosa's. Is this true or do I need to call the local BRAG club? Just wondering so that I don't miss out on anything. Thanks for the info. | ||

Dbensavage, Where are you coming from. I live in Gunnison, I am planning on leaving on Tuesday afternoon and getting to Cortez or further then sleeping and heading to Flagstaff the next day. My wife is coming in our truck just incase I have any problems and we are meeting some family in Flag before heading on down to Phoenix. Let me know your plan, maybe we can ride together. Also, I know a little road down there east of Phoenix that is as twisty as it gets and isn't on our route. It is called the Apache Trail, it is increadible. Any way, let me know what you find out. | ||

dBLHAULXB9S, I called BRAG today. They said to register when you get there. I can't leave till Wednesday after work since I only asked about taking off Thursday and Friday. I'll be leaving right from Denver. Your lucky, you're already on the west side of the mountains. That might be one COLD ride for me. | ||

I've ridden my bicycle on the Apache Trail a couple of times, great road. You should see the looks on the cagers faces when a bicycle passes them going around a curve! | ||

Anyone riding from out east or mid-west? Anyone have a better (faster) route to Mesa other than I 40 to Flagstaff and south to Mesa on I 17? Looking for time going out there rather than twisties. Comin' back will be the scenic half. What can I expect for temps heading out there? Any mountain passes where I'll freeze to death? DAve | ||

DAve, The Arizona Buellers are expecting mid 40's to 80's in the rally area plus there's 20 to 30% chance of thunderstorms for the weekend. Cali guys however are looking at crossing desert areas like Lake Havasu, Phoenix or Yuma that have been averaging around 103 for the last 4 weeks, whew! Dave, Colorado is going to be pretty cool up high. It has been in the 20's early in the morning but really nice (60's to 70's) during the day. I am sad to say I won't be making it this year. My bike is getting warranty work done and won't be ready in time for me to leave. I am heading out this evening and my bike is on the Front Range. Oh well, there is always next year. Have fun and scrub some rubber off of you tires for me. | ||

DAve asked: Anyone have a better (faster) route to Mesa other than I 40 to Flagstaff and south to Mesa on I 17? DAve, The only other option would be heading South when you get to Winslow, then on to Payson to Mesa. You'd only save about 50 miles. The interstate would probably be a little faster. The cold spots on your inboud trip to Arizona would be the Flagstaff area (about 7,000 ft. elev.) down in the mid 30's at night. As far as the Torque Fest goes, Show Low is at about 6,500 ft. elevation and Alpine, sort'a the start of the Coronado Trail, is at about the 8,000 ft., so it would be cool there in the early morning. You'll experience about a 6,000 ft. elevation change throughout the trip. Clifton, which is towards the end of the trail, is around 3,500 ft. I don't think you'll freeze your butt off, but rain is always possible in the mountains. Like Darryl mentioned about, there's a "chance" of thunderstorms. If so, they usually roll in around late afternoon.  Be safe, have fun, -JW:> | ||

DAve, I've taken my bike from Springerville on 60 (via Quemado and Magdalena in NM) to Socorro New Mexico a couple of times on my way to Chicks's HD Torque Fest in Taos New Mexico. Not a thing wrong with the ride or the road whatsoever and it would probably save some time. Just make sure you watch the distances between gas stations. I'll top off my tank in "each" little town you pass through because some didn't have a gas station to begin with. -JW:> | ||

One more day to go before we leave...and I'm barely ready. My family is truck/trailering it from San Diego to Phoenix (in air conditioning!), leaving the trailer at the hotel/resort in Phoneix (THANKS MUCH JimW!!!) . My wife & son will drive the truck to Show-Low, I'm riding from Chosa's. I'm a little nervous about my S1W for this trip, just put some new tranny gears and a Penske shock on it with new tires, with only today and tomorrow's commmute to run it in and find out if I assembled anything wrong. So far so good, but I hate doing a long ride into the boonies after major repairs without a week of local time on it. I thought I'd be taking the S3 if the S1W was this not ready so late, but it decided to crack it's engine mount bolt off in the head. So the S1W it is. It'll be funner on those twisty roads anyway. | ||

Al, Is your wife going to be "chase truck" during the rides? I know allot of people are nervous about the long rides. Anything can happen to anyone or any bike in a ride. We are riding on very remote/desolate roads.  I hope someone will be following us. | ||

Dave, If your still around, dropping down through Payson is a nice route. When I moved back to Illinois from Mesa we took that route heading back. At least hit it on the way home! 60 is a long haul in stretches. I almost ran out of gas on my move out there, was night and no lights in sight. The out of nowhere this big truck stop is sitting all alone, I was sweating it and that was in a truck. Good Luck, wish I was going, I miss that area, tortia flat up to the lakes, around the superstition. Enjoy, I know I would! | ||

Nah, she's gonna do her own thing with our son while we're out riding. I suspect we'll be out of cell phone coverage for much of the time as well. I'll be carrying tools, gaffers tape,and a cell phone..hope I need none of 'em. |
