Since ECMSpy will no longer be supported and it's dubious if it will work at all on my '08, I'm wondering if anyone has taken advantage of this service? I almost choke when I look at the price, but other than dealing with a bike that doesn't really run as well as it should (off idle stumble and deceleration popping) I'm not sure what other options I have. The price seems steep for dyno tuning. Most of the shops in my area that do similar tuning for race bikes charge less than half. Maybe the stuff required to tap into DDFI is really expensive, I don't know. If the fee is primarily for the tuning time, it's high. I take it that you have already tried the recent ECM re-flash? My '08 ran well before the re-flash, I was only hoping for increased fuel economy. I had both improve. My Uly's engine is completely stock though. Mark in Arizona |

I take it that you have already tried the recent ECM re-flash Haven't had the flash done yet, but with the K&N filter and the Drummer, I'm fairly certain there will still be a lean condition after the flash. This is really what needs to be addressed. Would rather not pay to have the flash performed since others here have indicated they have had it done at no charge. The dealership in my area has indicated they will charge labor for the reflash. Tipsy |

Before too long, reflashing an ECM will be a thing of the past. The EPA is making it tougher and tougher on Manufacturers and other interested parties when it comes to "fooling" with fuel performance. You can still get a Screaming Eagle Race Turner for HD, does not apply to Buells, however, before too long this will also go away. Good Luck Buells to Alaska ALCAN 5000 2010 |

Dyno time in NC for having a Harley's fuel map changed runs for 70 - 90. Depending on the Dealer's labor charge. |

I have had my ULY (KN/Drummer/Drummer catch can) tuned twice (by two different places) with the Direct Link system. Both were initially fine but the tune deteriated with riding (AFV creep). The solution was to purchase a Direct Link MAP from Al at American Sport Bike. He and is co-horts have spent a LOT of time dyno tuning various combinations and sell the final MAP for a very reasonable price. So I suggest that you contact AL and have him hook you up with a MAP that fits your situation and you'll be good to go. Dyno chart shows bike before/after DL.

Thanks Tipsy, I thought the project ran afoul of the law. The message indicates that the main programmer(?) was spread too thin... happens to everyone. Too many things to do and not enough hours in a day. |

There are 2 ways that ecmspy could run into legal hassles in the US: 1) someone copying maps (say, race maps or custom maps built by a custom tuner) and burning them onto other people's ECMs without paying the programmers. and 2) the EPA restrictions on exhaust emissions. |
