Can any members here explain to me doing what will cause the factory warranty to be voided?
I just bought my Uly and it was made in June 08 and it is supposed to have the latest updates and recall work all taken care of at the factory.
But by adding what can I cause the warranty to be voided..I also just bought the extended HD warranty as I am all thumbs and don't know a thing mechanical..
Thanks in advance.

Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. When you add or take away a part you are changing some aspect of the machine from its intended use as designed by the manufacture. If you have a failure and it can be associated with the altered state of the machine, warranty will be denied. Be prepared to take responsibility for your own actions.

Iron head nailed it. It all ultimately comes down do the dealer. If your heated grips stop working, and they determine that your aftermarket GPS blew the fuse, you will be footing the bill. If your heated grips stop working, they can't just deny the warranty claim because you put on a Micron exhaust.

Some advice, cancel that warranty, it’s useless as it only covers so much, and then there is a deductable on it. The warranty isn’t from HD; it’s a 3rd party so they decide wither to approve or deny claims.

Froggy...
So the one that says it from Harley Davidson is actually a third part warranty.?
I still have time to cancel it..
But in your opinion what are most common problems that happen with the XT's?
I'm completely new to this as my last bike ownership was 15 years ago and it was bought used..
I'm not very handy with my hands and would most likely be useing the shop for services.

I had that same extended warranty on my Uly. After my wreck last fall, I canceled and only got like half the money back, even though it didn't start for another year and a half! I was pissed about that. Others have posted stories about how nothing they needed fixed would be covered. Read the fine print, you’re on your own for a lot. They are very liberal with determining things as wear items.

It’s too soon to see for sure what will be issues with the XTs, but I predict it will mostly be drive belts, pulsing breaks, and rusted mufflers. Oh yea, I know for sure those 3 are not covered by the extended....
