Alright heres the problem I bought a 99 X1 and its stock except for the vance-and-hines slip-on. I know it runs lean so it needs to be tuned. I read a lot of the threads on tuning but couldn't really find thing that said that one tuner is better than any other. Any help on which one is better would help. |

ECMSPY is free, just make the cable or get with AL at American Sport Bike he has software and experience. Joe |

Do you know the real AFV after ride in closed loop learn mode. The AFV will tell you if you ride LEAN and how much lean... Good luck. |

I have the cable and VDSTS software. I have the race ECU and Stock ECU. The AFV on the stock shows 100% on the Race ECU 85%. What the heck does this mean? I have a stock header with a TwoB pipe and the Race filter and stock air box. It pulls good until about 4000 then falls on its face up to red line. Is this the stock header and Race map? With the race ECU the above scenerio is true, with the Stock ECU I loose low end torque but gain some top end. She pulled to 140 yesterday on a test run with stock ECU. The race ECU will only pull to about 125. Also I have an occasional "quit" or stumble when at constant speed at any speed. I believe this to be the ECU resetting, however no one has ever been able to confirm whether or not the ECU resetting will cause this. I believe the ECU runs lean on reset then adjust. I do have a race header, which is cracked, along with the race muffler (if you can call it that). I am getting it repaired and hope it will cure this latest issue. Is there a site that has "maps" for different configs? |

Jason I had a problem like this with my two brothers can. It turned out that the exhaust pressure would move the can back wards about 1.5 to 2 inches during higher rpms. I ended up with stiffer springs and safety wired the muffler to the elbow supplied. So check out muffler when you are riding and see if it is moving. Joe
