Well, last Friday I received my "official" recall notice. Rode bike over to Dealer on Sat. morning to schedule appointment and do some more follow-up on the battery drain (when bike is off) issue. Battery drains down about .5 volts every 10 - 12 hours unless kept on a tender. Dealer wants to run some "tests" but suspects the instrument cluster.
Anyways - riding home I tried to "honk" the horn and nothing happened, looked down at the inst. cluster and speedo was displaying a big fat "0". Tach was working, AT/CT were changing, but clock and Odometer had stopped. Headlights and tail light were on.
Got home had started checking things out, when rear brake depressed or front brake pulled the brake light didn't come on. Looked in manual and there is a 10A fuse identified for Horn and Brake. Fuse box is under seat on the left side. Replaced fuse and checked, reseated all the others. Horn, brake light, speedo, clock, odometer now working. Took bike back to Dealer on Monday, hopefully will get her back soon.
Well, on the plus side I still have my FLHTI to ride.

Anybody else "popping" fuses and/or have the battery drain problem? (800 miles on bike)

A guy at my local dealer was having this problem. One of the guys (parts or service - can't remember which) said it was the horn switch shorting out on the handlebars.

Something to check.

You're right Rich. The horn button was shorting out on the handlebar.

I found it by replacing the fuse and then working the front brake and then the rear brake. The brake light came on.

Then I would work the horn and the fuse would pop.

Took it back to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty.

My parasitic draw was in the cluster. It was very random and only happed 3 times that I know of. I just got the new cluster put in last week. The bike has just over 1000 miles on it. Now I have new problems.

Hey Shawn,

I wondered if you'd pipe up on this one since I was talking about your bike.

And now that I think about it, it was Donnie that told me about it.
