My XB12Ss becomes real sweet at around 3,500 rpm, so whenever possible, there or higher is where I try to keep it whenever possible. I seldom get it much above 6,000 rpm unless accelerating hard for a reason. Bike does not feel "right" below 3,000 rpm. |

How about speeds with those RPM's? On my 9 it's 70 mph's and 4000 rpm's (highway) |

I really watched the tach today and this is what I found. XB12R 2008 with 230 miles on it. 3rd gear 35 to 45 MPH is right at 3,000. It feels a little soft, but I figure being nice for a few miles is not that bad. The bike really smooths out around 4,000 but I try to keep it in a higher gear. I am still on the stock pipe, but the SPec ops is on the list. Darin |

I'm cruising around 3500 or so in 6th gear at 60-70. Around town I will drop down to around 2500 or so until dropping a gear. 08 12R with 2k. (Message edited by SRWitt on July 08, 2008) |

i agree. 3500 RPM is where I commute to work. However, I am finding that at 4000 in 5th gear is more like 80MPH. Then again I have heard speedos being off as much as 5 - 7 mph on some after a certain ECM update. |

My S2 and my UlyX both cruise 4k/80mph. The S1W with its slightly shorter gearing is 4k/75. ....all mine seem to automatically "find" that 4k spot if I'm cruising, so I let 'em live there as much as I can (and as much as radar traps allow, lol). |

Just out of curiosity Growl. What kind of MPG are you getting at those lower RPM's? It seems to be an area I am having a lot of problems with. |
