I just install them bone-dry and torque the flange bolts evenly side-to-side. I do use a template to locate the mouth of the TB/carb in the proper location, or an angle-indicator (Parallel to the cam nose) if the template is not available. You do have a bracket on the carb to locate it to the heads, right? (It actually supports the entire intake, and retains the carb/TB) I see a lot of Forcewinders that don't have that. It's the uncool setup. Other than that, I dunno. |

I usually torque the intake to head bolts just enough to snug them, then wiggle the intake a few times to get it seated, then put the carb on with the carb retaining bracket to the heads. Once the carb and bracket are on, it aligns the intake to the heads and I torque the intake to head bolts to spec. I also make sure to put a schmear of either engine oil, vaseline, or some other lube on the carb flange before I slide it into the boot on the intake, so it doesn't catch or pinch the seal there and make a leak. |

yep, i use a support bracket... i have been mounting the manifold loose and installing the carb...then going back and tightening the manifold.. this seems to put stress on the manifold donuts, as i have to pull up on the manifold to get the support bracket to line up with the carb holes...i thought about some anti-seize, but i guess that lubing the manifold gaskets is not a good idea? |

I've used SilGlide on the rubber and had no problems. But I've also put them in dry with no problems. However, I always keep a spare set or two on hand... Brad |

im taking half the damn bike appart this time and go over it with a fine tooth comb..this is getting irritating...i dont know what else to do... i could just bolt it down as it naturally wants to sit, but then i have stress on the donut between the carb and manifold..i hate to mount it without a support bracket... |

I usually get oil on my fingers, and run the seal through my wet fingers prior to install. That way when you wiggle it into place you're not gathering or bunching the seal. Forgot to mention that above, sorry. Definitely use the support bracket. You say stress on the carb donut - is it too far out towards the frame? Or is it drooping? |

its drooping and seems to be under stress when i try to get the correct angle... |
