Well, if there's a person who's racked up more bad karma this year, I can't think of them. Spidey had gotten Mary Jane back together a few days ago and was putting miles on her to finish the break-in by this weekend last night when he got in an accident. He told me that he was cut off and rear-ended a lady, I don't have any more details than that. He spent last night in the hospital, and gave me a ring late and told me that he's got a bruised kidney, and I'm assuming that came with a hodgepodge of other scrapes and bruises. He'll probably be back today. Most of you could probably figure out that nothing short of a crippling injury could keep him from worrying more about his ride, but no word on MJ right now. Keep your fingers crossed for a quick recovery for Tony and that MJ's in decent shape. Maybe he'll be able to add some more detail later today. Bryan | ||

All right, I've got a little bit of an update. I just got off the phone with him. He's sore, bitching about the hospital food (who wouldn't?), but apparently the bruised kidney is indeed the worst of it, accompanied by the obligatory road rash and minor bumps and bruises. He also gave me a little bit clearer picture on what happened. He was on Telegraph Rd (6 lanes, divided, 45mph, very high traffic) in the center lane when a woman pulled out of a turn around in front of him. Thinking that she would either stay there or swing back into the left lane (people around here can't seem to get the hang of the whole u-turn lane thing), he moved right. She then turned right into a parking lot (from the center lane), cutting across the lane he'd moved into and bam. He said he was doing about 40mph or so, so you're guess is as good as mine as to the state of Mary Jane. His mom's in Florida, and Dad's at work, so I imagine he's pretty bored at the hospital to boot, but all things considered, in good spirits. I have just talked to the Spiderman and I have...well, "good" news and "bad" news. The GOOD news is that parts of him are now a perfect Pantene match for that gorgeous metallic green that made the Buick Vista-Cruiser a legend among station wagons. The BAD news is that the process of getting that colro involved something that resembled, juding from the explanation I got, a mud wrestling match with a grizzly. He's fine and is suffering from a bruised kindey. I was quick to point out that this is likely the first time his kidneys have ever been assaulted from outside and from any non-liquid. Just talking to Spidey too, I called his cell phone while he is in the hospital. Up here cells are banned from being used in hospitals. Like Court posted - kidneys bruised and sore but at least is among the living, Couldn't get and update on MJ though. He did sound good though as good as being in the hospital can be. | ||

I was one of the first folks here to say I liked the new 12's & would buy one. As far as spideys bike goes, we will see. A 40 mph crash into a car usually doesnt favor the bike surviving very well. | ||

Hopefully we'll get MJ out of the pound sometime in the next few days, and then it will be a bit while he sees what needs to be replaced. I would hope at least the engine's still good, since he just sunk all the effort into rebuilding it. I'm sure he could dig up an M2 frame and sundry items elsewhere... And yes, to my knowledge he was wearing 'full gear', that is, leather jacket, gloves, boots, and helmet. Bryan | ||

But hopefully insurance will cover the cost and he can trade her in for the 12R that he wants....
