just started to notice on left side got a little oil leak from the seal. dealer said bout 20-30 for parts. now i dont have much experience working on bikes, and am still trying to get a hold of service manual- how hard would this be for me to do on own- dealer quoted about 2 hours work time at 85/hr. any input would be helpful, as well as a 2003 service manual that i might be able to download rather than paying the dealer 90$ for it. not against paying just against large amounts when digital copy should be much more cost effective. and is it safe to ride with this leak? |

I have a PDF version of the service manual if its not on this site. I got it from the buell blast forum on yahoo. It shows most everything that you will need to have and do to get that part replaced. I too have the same problem with my 03 and will be doing that service this coming weekend. I had ridden with my forks like that for a little while as I was broke and very very busy. Its probably not a great idea since youll end up with fork oil all over the front tire. The seals themselves are not at all expensive ( 3 dollars and some change in El Paso) and the rest of the parts are just as inexpensive. Hope this helps. |
