I got my first Buell seven years ago and enjoyed it so immensely that I just recently purchased another one. My decision to go to Homecoming was prompted by that love of Buells and the fact that I didn't know any other Buell riders. I have to confess that the guys at the St. Paul dealership warned me about the type of people that would be at the rally. Of course, their words were all in good fun, but I think they said something along the lines of, "expect a different lot." Well, they were right, but not in the way that they meant. What I experienced was definitely an eclectic group, but one that was comprised of people that would do anything to help a fellow rider. On the way over my bike began spewing oil at a phenomenal rate to the point that I had to stop multiple times to wipe down my bike and chaps and watch my speed as I felt the oil making its way under my tires. As I pulled into the hotel parking lot my bike was quite a site, but after a bit of gawking and a series of name drops I was directed to an individual that would soon become my friend and hero. Apparently, my rocker box gasket had went out and I ended up spending my fourth in a garage with two men that had been strangers to me just the day before. Given that the bike I took was a Blast they had a bit of a project on their hands. Plus, they spent extra time fixing other things that they came across, gave me a helmet lock, Buell gear, and helped me wash my bike. So, this is my personal thank-you to Brad (Minneapolis area) and Brian (Wis. local) for all of your help. I was a woman traveling alone to an event where I didn't know what to expect and when I had a problem you stepped up without reservation. Thank you again and to all of you that made me feel so welcome. I plan on going back next year. |

How cool! . . . that was Brad Johnson. Brad is a staple and a human-benchmark among Buell owners. You got a glimpse at our best in addition to a fine trumpet player (hey, you were warned, right?) I am thrilled to hear you had a good time and that you are coming back. . . same thing happened to me in the late 80's and I'm just waiting for the annual event to get old in the tooth . . hasn't happened yet; just seems to improve due in large part to folks like you! See you next year! Court P.S. - Brad is one of the few Buellers with high moral character so we oft cite him as our public masthead!
