Scott, do yourself a favor and bite the bullet and have the dealer do that job. There is no easy way. Basically, you need to drop the swing arm to get the belt past the frame and the isolators can be put in at the same time. |

Thanks, while I understand it is not easy - I can handle it. My bike will never, ever see a dealership - you can quote me on that! (Message edited by scott_in_nh on June 20, 2008) |

"There is no easy way." No, but some ways are easier than others... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/335010.html?1201741625 http://www.aeincorporated.com/kastar/?page=show_it em_detail&id=35&qs=cGFnZT1jYXJ0 |

Somebody recently posted a "photo expose'" of something similar to the ATC method. I thought I saved it but cannot find it even with the search tool. Anybody else remember this? Oh and how about those Buell PN's please! |

The belt part number is G0500.1AAE. I just put one on my 97 M2. I don't have the numbers for the isolators but someone will come through with them for you. Definitely do replace the isolators when you do the belt. It's a PITA enough to do one job, you might as well do them both at the same time. |

It is the best explanation I've seen yet Dan - you're welcome! Now focus boyz - I NEED the part numbers ASAP because if they do not have the parts locally I want Al to be able to ship them to me today so I don't lose 2 days shipping time! PLEASE! upgraded isolator kit 04 or later XB belt? |

By the way, that is a great link. I have done this job a few times and that looks by far the best and easiest way to do it without one of the "store bought tools". The only difficulty I have had is with the new isolators. They have the angled flange on the lower edge. They can't be compressed quite as far as the old style. |

That's the XB belt. It will also fit on older Sportsters. Retail is $152.99 |

Z0010.CB, rear isolator, 99 S3. $64.10ea retail. ...from an employee of one of those dealers that "your bike will never go to". You're welcome. |

Thanks RB, the local dealer my bike will never go to has neither part in stock, I'm sure yours is different! I know there are good servicing dealers out there, no insult intended. One of the reasons I bought a Buell is because it is so owner serviceable. I cannot afford a mechanic for anything I own regardless of the quality of their work! So with few exceptions, if I cannot fix it myself it will have a for sale sign on it after the mechanic is done..... |

Al didn't have the belt either, but Andy came through! Thanks everyone for your help, I'll let you know how it goes..... |

Scott, there are two different part numbers for those rear isolators. There is a left and a right. Get the new bolts too for the installation. |

I just went for the kit. It includes left and right isolators, new bolts, washers and a new pulley cover. thanks for checking Jon! I will be polishing my swingarm while I have it off too. I have a rare disorder where if I take a raw aluminum part off I cannot put it back on without grinding, sanding and polishing it 1st! |

Scott IIRC the isolators came with a very large Torx bolt. Don't remember the size. Good luck Joe |

Isn't that why the dealers nickname is"stealership." (Message edited by J.ramsey on June 21, 2008) |

I have the isolators out using the method I linked to and it worked great! I didn't even have to shorten my wrench. It cost me about 8 bucks at ACE hardware for everything I needed |
