'06 Uly just over two years old w/ 48k, a couple of months ago I got tired of backing off the cable adjustment to pop out the lever end and clean out the crud in the lever slot and recess.
Had to trim a little off the bottom to fit around the clutch interlock switch, and I didn't really need to snip a bit off the end would've fit just fine. Dirt had actually allowed the cable at the ferrule to cut a burr into the lever which caused rough action, I kept greasing and readjusting the cable before I discovered the real problem, even replacing the cable with new. Worse than the feel, if burrs or crud keep the ferrule/barrel from rotating smoothly the cable gets stressed at that point and that's where they'll break! Cleaned up the recess in the lever and with the boot and the new cable it's still clean and smooth in there couple thousand miles later. About $7 at your friendly local Honda dealer, but you could probably find another suitable alternative. Why a little Honda XR-something has these and our $12k Ulys don't is beyond me... |
