Hey i have a question concerning the buell firebolt. I was wanting to know if the bike could be lowered any. I also heard that the citycross shock could be switched out but i was wondering about the front forks | ||

I have done the scg suspension on my firebolt, and i'm thrilled with it. You do need to know that the scg suspension rides a little harsher than the standard suspension because of the reduced travel. Since your 'bolt is an 05 you will need: 1)Forks 2)Lower triple clamp/steering stem unit 3)rear shock 4)kickstand (easy to forget!) I was able to find someone that was willing to swap out parts with me, only cost was gas money for my trip to trade parts. If you're lucky and you have a little patience you may be able to find a similar deal. It took me a total of about half an hour or 45 minutes of wrenching to do the job. It will take you a little longer because you will need to remove the lower triple clamp and set tension on it when re-installing. Be careful not to over-torque the upper pinch bolt when you put it back together! All told it lowers the bike 1.25-1.5 inches. Good Luck! | ||

i had my xb9r lowered at a shop that deals in sport bikes. they do it all the time on the jap bikes. what they do is machine a spacer for the front forks that goes inside the fork itself, and basically the same for the rear shock. i did mine when it was time to change the fork oil so i killed two birds with one stone. and the beauty of it is u can lower it as much as u want. i opted for 1 inch front and back to keep steering geometry the same. |
