I've been here in Turkey about 4 months. My bike got here a few weeks ago, and today I finally got it running and went into downtown Adana Turkey. About 2 million Turks. They have very few full size bikes out here, and none of them sound like a D&D equipped XB12! My ride was EXTREMELY dangerous, if not interesting.

Check out the size of this Mosque! One of the biggest in the world I believe....

Then I look what I found. Another XB! Actually I knew where to look I guess. There are 3 Buellers out here at Incirlik, 2 Bolts and a Uly. Of all places in the world to find Buells, there are 3 in Turkey, SWEET!

Looks like a modern city - paved roads !!I thought Turkey was mostly a turd world country. Post up some other pics when you get a chance. Are the other two Buell riders military, too?

The roads may be paved, but that doesn't mean they are modern! The way they drive is only part of the problem. The actual road surface contains some type of marble, and feels like ice if you whack the throttle or grab to much brake. The other two Buells are both Military as well.

I'm headed to the Mediterranean tomorrow, I'll get a few more pics.

Cataract, I spent 4 1/2 years at Ramstein. In fact, thats where I bought my first Buell! Good luck with Germany.

Marble when it gets wet is no good. Who, in their right mind, would make a road out it

kind of like the coral in the roads on some pacific islands....they use what they have on hand to make the asphalt.

A few more random pics. you can tell by the buildings and roads in these ones, that the areas outside of the city are really old, and aren't maintained very well.

I spent a few weeks in Turkey for work. I enjoyed my time there. Not that bad of a place, good food, decent people.

Istanbul, ankara, brings back some memories. dangerous places to be on two wheels. well dangerous places to be in 4 wheels. The driving is INSANE. But cool anyway. get out in the country it is GREAT, the history and people are unbeliveable. Tour up to istanbul, see the old city. St. Sophia, the Blue Mosque .The old city walls themselves are impressive

I guess a buell in Turkey could be useful. Hiding your smuggled hash in the airbox is one way to riches. : )

They use marble chippings for the roads out there & in Greece too.
You be VERY gentle with the gas when it rains. I've driven a rig in Greece in the rain, interesting is one way of describing it.
You just be careful eating those kebabs!

Got back from Kizkalesi yesterday. Kizkalesi means "Maidens Castle". You can kinda see why. A castle on its own little island in the Mediterranean. I rode with a another American on his Busa, and a Turkish guy that works at the chow hall on base and rides a CBR 600. Afterwards we went to the Turkish guys house and watched Turkey beat Chech in the UEFA cup. The town went nutz! Gun shots, fireworks, flooded the streets with cars and kids and Turkish flags. It was probably the most exciting sporting event I have ever seen, and it was only the quarterfinals. I'm a fan now. Go Turkey!

Here are some pics.

And then, my favorite pic of the whole weekend.....

We are eating lunch at a beachfront cafe. I'm watchin my bike like a hawk because I left my tail bag attached. A group of kids ride their bicycles over to our parked bikes and start looking them over. Pointing and touching. Laughing and yelling. Then one of the kids starts to climb onto the XB!! I grabbed my camera and ran over there, the kids tried to scatter like they were in trouble. I explained to them I just wanted pictures. They gladly re-mounted my bike. Here is the goofiest pic.

Gerat pics! I spent 3 yrs in greece and loved it. Spent a little time in turkey. Really nice people. I had an old bmw r-51 with a sidecar, had a ball on it. Grumpy is right on about those roads. Slick as ice after a rain mixed with a little road grim.

"Turkey prohibits by law the wearing of religious head cover and theo-political symbolic garments for both genders in government buildings, schools, and universities."

and then we have this from their neighbors, Iran
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSHAF6281 1420080616?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews&rpc=22&sp =true

"Iranian police have launched a more extensive crackdown on "social corruption" such as women flouting Islamic dress codes, the Farhang-e Ashti newspaper reported on Monday."
