I traced an oil leak under the front shock mount to the mounting stud that is anchored in the engine case. I removed the upper bolt on the front shock mount. Took off the nut on the stud. The bracket wont come off the stud, the stud seems to move a bit. Is the stud threaded into the bracket ? Anyone encountered this ? Thanks ken | ||

i had an oil leak that went down the engine case and dripped down the front shock mount. it ended up being one of the oil lines. hope its something simple because tracking down some of the oil leaks can be a pain the the ass. I know mine was a pain to find | ||

The "stud" is another case bolt. Some thread into the mount, some have another nut. Wash the case holes out with brake cleaner, and pack full of sealer on reassembly. Look at the shock recalls in the KV to see how it all goes together. | ||

hey remember that front bracket is under load if the rear wheel is on the ground. Try unloading the rear end and see if the bracket frees up. Many have had good results putting the passenger peg brackets up on jackstands to get the back end up (just rock carefully one side at a time). | ||

OUCH! I remember the first time i messed with my exhaust and removed those bolts and the bike collapsed.Careful with that bracket,it supports the rear suspension  |
