Mine was fine after the reflash (before it too) and has only discharged when I have spent too long playing with the computer. |

If you own an 1125R, would you please take a look at the vehicle information sticker up at the steering head. Let us know what it says concerning noise related. Thanks to an anony for the tip on this. |

"This 2008 BLX42A1125 Motorcycle, 80110.1AMA meets U.S. EPA Noise emissiong requirements of 80 dBA at 4850 rpm by the Federal Test procedure. Modifications which cause this motorcyle to exceed Federal noise standars are prohibited by Federal Law. See Owner's Manual" Is that what you were looking for? |

Same thing on my wife's XB9SX, except 3810 rpm instead of 4850. And THE MAN thinks this will keep me from gobbling up aftermarket performance parts that I want? Nope, not gonna happen. So what exactly is the point of pointing out the noise emission requirement in regards to the ECM reflash? I'm DENSE, so an explanation in single syllables would be GREAT! |

Ahhhhhhhh....as the lightbulb slowly grows dim (was unlit previously). So am I to infer that the IAC, which is there for noise, is being "optimized" for the 4850 rpm's to meet the noise emissions, which is driven by the ECM programming? Close? |

I guess everyone running all the posted aftermarket exhausts here are in trouble too. What a bunch of crap. THE owners of 11's have been told since day one to not ride below 4k by bmc and dealerships. Wake up. This is the zone that closed loop/mandated by EPA is! So what excuses and or politics are next in keeping everyone happy with the current negatives regarding? Keep it simple and to fact...in resolving any issues instead of ignoring them while the service manual is still being written. |

MM, So are you saying that the bike is running in closed loop below 4850 due to EPA, and all the other "doodads" added on to meet the 80 dBA limit are being impacted below 4k because of that? (ECM, IAC, etc., etc.?) Not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers, just trying to understand how it all works on this machine since there isn't a service manual for me to refer to as of yet. |

P.S. The only time I'm below 4k is when I'm in 1st gear & the speed limit is below ~30. Not a lot of that around here for me, so not very noticeable to me. |

Blake, Again, you have taken my simple questions out of context. I am only here for all to benefit from a real positive ending for their ownership experience of Buell's 11 offering. Not to nitpick with you. If you personally owned this model and or had wrenching experience on one, well, that might be a different story. I won't question you again. |

I'm not suggesting anything other than WE owners DO have unresolved issues. Without a manual and without full dealer and BMC information support...we as owners are left with two choices as I see it; 1...Leave the bike at any dealer for what ever time they need and hope that all issues are addressed....PLEASE post your experience with that one here as all would love to know it as a positive and follow suit! 2...Common sense and diagnostics...whether it be a separate firm and or individual with knowledge enough to dwelve in. I simply believe that someone up stairs needs to pull the plug on this test market and offer up information and support/resolve asap. Those young and bright MIT engineers need to loosen up their tongues...OR provide a manual. Give me the manual and I'll give you my warranty remaining. I think that is VERY fair! And I am serious. p.s. Go through a school zone at 15 MPH...your tach will read 2-2200rpm. |

When you chose to turn this public topic of discussion away from the motorcycle and instead onto me or anyone for that matter, you harm/corrupt the thread and create a divisive personal issue, which is entirely unhelpful and pretty much miserableness. "THE owners of 11's have been told since day one to not ride below 4k by bmc and dealerships." "Since day one" you say? What does it say in the owner's manual I wonder? Who at BMC ever once uttered such instructions? Who at Ray Price H-D/Buell, or Liberty H-D/Buell, or Appleton, or Seminole, or any of our dealer-sponsors ever gave such instruction to new 1125R owners? I'm ALL for facts and helpful discussion. Let's please get back to it. |

"without full dealer and BMC information support" Who is it that is lacking in dealer and/or BMC support? Please describe specifically what you feel is lacking in your dealer and/or BMC support concerning any issue with your Buell motorcycle. Detail it clearly, concisely, and professionally and I'll do my best to help get you some action on it. Send it to me via PM. |

"I guess everyone running all the posted aftermarket exhausts here are in trouble too. What a bunch of crap." I don't follow. Are you suggesting that Buell should design a motorcycle that inherently performs well with aftermarket exhaust systems? |

"Common sense and diagnostics... whether it be a separate firm and or individual with knowledge enough to delve in." The diagnosis comprises about 5% of the effort. Implementing post-shipment changes to the engines of emissions-certified vehicles is likely not the simple walk in the park that some might imagine. The folks at Buell are dedicated, top-notch professionals who can be relied upon to resolve significant issues. Most likely it will come down to a vendor supplied part that isn't meeting specs for one reason or another. (Message edited by Blake on May 29, 2008) |

Blake - Please clarify something for me. Any possible new reflashes would have to have EPA's stamp of approval? I am not sure how this works. Thanks. |

I'm not sure how it works either. I just know that such issues are never a simple matter. There is a tremendous amount of liability involved. (Message edited by Blake on May 29, 2008) |

A really good question Teach. I believe that for anyone interested in really fine tuning their 1125 for greater performance, and not worried about EPA or their warranty will eventually, from what I'm learning, use ECMspy when it becomes available for our bikes. I am currently not having any problems and completely satisfied with my own 1125's performance so I am not interested in that right now. BMC, I believe always has to meet EPA standards as a manufacturer. |

what blake is getting at is if there is a specific RPM/gear listed, this is what that active intake solenoid is controlling to conform to the E.P.A. mandated noise restrictions. Some bikes list it, some don't. The sticker on xb9r lists this info. You shouldn't have any issues outside that listing relating to EPA. |

Teach, every updated calibration HAS to conform to meet EPA restrictions. Any cals through BMC for performance or aftermarket will state "for race use/ closed track only ". They may help the bike to run more to your liking as far as performance and such, but do so at your own risk pertaining to local and federal law. |

I'll risk it!! Gimme!!!! As I live in the 3rd world of new orleans. hahaha "It puts the race ecm in my hands. It does this when its told. Or it gets the hose again" Oh and on topic I dont plan on getting the flash yet. I like the way it is now with the active intake disconnected. Although my buell usually takes hitting the start button 2 times to get her going. Fine by me works everytime. |

I finally got the reflash done on the third visit to the Dealer. Apparently, a new set of Technical Notes came out from Buell that cleared the procedure up for the technician. The bike is much more responsive from a standing stop. I also noticed the gas mileage went up about 1 mpg on the freeway. They must have made the injection more efficient as well. I highly recommend getting this done. |

Update on my saga: I have been experiencing a progressively worse stumble between 3-4K POST re-flash. I lived with it for a couple weeks - but was really frustrated. The stumble is now obvious across all the gears (not just 1st and 2nd). I got it to my dealer on Thursday. He spent the better part of Friday trying to chase it down. There are no error codes, all systems appear to be functioning... in other words... everything looks just fine. He has a call into BMC - waiting for them to get back to him on Monday. He test drove my bike several times - and totally agrees something is not right. Stay tuned - will post what we figure out. In the mean time - he suspects it may be a fuel injector problem - however, he was quick to point out that is purely a guess. My dealer is Downtown Harley - the Buell tech is Kevin. Those guys are the best. They care. While I am TOTALLY bummed that I don't have my baby this weekend - I am confident she is being cared for by folks that give a sh^* about me and my bike. |

I'll post my situation. I took delivery of my 1125R about 2 weeks ago, and it's my first motorcycle. (Yeah, I know, but why live life always wishing you WOULD have rather than WOULDN'T have?!) At first I figured the performance was me getting used to the bike and biking, but now 300 miles later I have an appointment with my local dealer next week to find out what's going on. It simply doesn't want to run well below around 3000-3500 RPM. I'm more a car guy than motorcyclist (for now), but it sounds like it's cackling and pinging from bad timing. Riding in stop-and-go traffic it's approaching embarrassing the way it sounds and runs. It sounds HORRIBLE from the seat and the power surges like an intermittent ignition...or SOMETHING. Once I'm out in free space and can keep the revs up it either runs better or the higher revs mask the issue. I checked for any fault codes just to be sure and came up empty. I don't know if mine is the latest ECM flash or not. I'm not assuming that since they delivered it from Wisconsin mid-May that it isn't a pre-April build, so that will be one of my goals: Establish build date and ID any issues re; ECM, re-flash, etc. I'm hoping they find something wrong...even if it's ME!! And I AM open to positive criticisms on what I might be doing operationally to create the problem or symptoms! Bottom line is I love the bike, but I'll love it better once this gets sorted out. This board has been my center of attention since well before I took the plunge and it's been extremely helpful, so I figger I'd post my situation in hopes of "giving back". Hopefully there will be something to give, but I AM optimistic. It's a machine. Machines can be made to do what you want! |

Welcome to the board Dennis. These bikes are really tight when new. Mine ran pretty rough and had a really noisy valve train till she had about 1800 miles on her. She is much smoother and well manored now. During break-in she just wouldn't run below 32K and would stall if you tried. Fuel mapping below 3600 prior to the reflash was just not even close. Even after the reflash the snatching, jerking and surging from the fuel injection didn't clear up till the adaptive fueling on both front and rear cylinders finally learned. Now she is pretty much perfect with only a very slight occasional surge when holding steady at 3500. You can check the Adaptive Fuel Values by entering diagnostic mode on the instrument console. To enter diagnostic mode, hold both the toggle and mode buttons down while turning on the ignition. |

Just checked my AFV numbers and both front and rear are sitting at 105. From browsing the threads on the AFVs, this seems like high numbers for a bike sitting at about 700 feet above sea level, since if my understanding is correct, 100 is the expected value for sea level and the number should go DOWN at higher elevations?? I'm due to make the trip to the dealer on Friday and it will be interesting to see what they might observe or conclude. I've got the electrical diagnostic manual, and am waiting on the service manual...promised after July 1st!!! In the meantime, I think I'll check for fouled plugs! |

Yep your AFV's should be in the 90's. Go out and give her a spirited ride for a couple of hours. Really thrasher her about and she if she doesn't change for the better. |
