I just got done putting my rear wheel back on and measured it out to make sure it was centered but after I got back from a ride the belt was squeaking when I roll it forward and I don't remember it doing that before. I put it on the stand and when I roll the wheel backwards the belt goes toward the tranny and when you roll it forward it goes toward the outer lip on the front pulley. Is this correct? This is the first time I have messed with it on a bike with a belt. I adjusted it some both was and it seems to not matter how the belt is adjusted, it just keeps doing that. | ||

Assuming you put the spacers back in the correct locations and measured your belt deflection you really can't mess this job up. | ||

The adjusters are not necessarily improperly adjusted. They may well be, but that does not cause the (non)issue at hand. The windings in the belt cause the belt to track one way or the other (and they use this fact to keep the belt properly installed on products like the Blast, with it's single-walled rear pulley). Even if you flip the belt, it will track the same way, because the windings still line up the same way. But, if you reverse the rotation, it reverse-tracks. This is normal, all the way, and as far the belt tracking, you are fine. (Message edited by jos51700 on June 02, 2008) | ||

I rub a rag with WD40 on it on the 'inside' side of the belt and that gets rid of squeaks after I wash the bike. I think Harley sells a belt dressing for this issue too. | ||

I don't know deej, the idea of putting anything on my drive belt(solvent or dressing 0) dosen't sit well with me. Clean is clean, absence of crud or oil is good for me,and change the belt at recomended intervals. | ||

Any kind of oil on the belt is bad. Oil attracts dirt, and dirt attracts worn-out. If it squeeks, a little Black crayon goes a long way. I usually just "color" the side of the belt, and it quits. | ||
