Author Message   Xl1200r Posted on Friday, June 06, 2008 - 04:33 pm:        I haven't seen first hand, but please read if you're planning on heading up to Americade or Lake George over the next few days... The State Police have set up a "Motorcycle Checkpoint" at the rest area between Exit 17 and 18 of the Northway (I-87). They're forcing all bikes to pull off and go through an inspection, looking for non-stock exhaust, proper inspection and registration, helmets, etc. There were probably 200 bikes lined up and waiting today, and the cops are taking their sweet ass time doing this. Also, there's a trooper with a speed gun and a good 6 or 7 cop cars at the ready waiting for anyone he tells them to chase. I'm all about keeping exhausts on the quiet side, legal headware and papers, etc., but it almost seems like the local goverments are actively trying to drive this event (the single biggest revenue generater for the region) out of the area. I feel like blasting by at 100mph with my middle finger displayed proudly, but I can't take the jail sentence right now. I'm sure what they're doing is totally legal, but that doesn't make it right and it sure isn't helping the biker/cop relationship in this area.   Thumper74 Posted on Friday, June 06, 2008 - 04:50 pm:        Or better yet... 100mph on the rear wheel, flipping the bird.
