Riding the bike when this happens? Could be the BAS (bank angle sensor). Some still fail even after the relocation. |

Which bike/year is it? Your profile says S-2. If it is an XB +1 to what Hugh said. You can turn off the BAS with ECMspy, or install a heat barrier between the BAS and the engine as it seems the heat will trip it. |

Bank angle sensor very likely the cause. My '06 would cut off like dead ignition. Cycle key switch and it would fire right up. They replaced one and a few months later, it got relocated with the BAS recall kit. It is located under the ECM originally. The recall moved it to behind the seat latch. While you are at it, if it hasn't been done, place a washer under your battery terminal bolts. They are just a hair too long on some bikes, and will bottom out just as they tighten up leaving just enough room for them to cause an erratic power loss that usually makes the gages go crazy. |
