Hello all, I've been lurking here for almost a year now and after taking a buell ulysses for a test ride this weekend, I know I have to own one!!! I am leaning towards the XT so the wife and I can both enjoy it. Here's my question.... Do I wait till next year and see how the economy goes?(I can afford one now) New model maybe? Do I buy a used one or brand new? What kind of incentives, deals, freebies did you guys get buying new? Thanks much in advance, hope everyone had a safe memorial day weekend and remembered what the holiday is for. |

If you can afford it now, then go for it. I wouldn't think there are going to be any major changes for next year. |

Maybe I disgruntled some guys mentioning the economy. I guess a better questions is should I shop around or just buy from the closest dealer? As for incentives did anybody get the first service thrown in or a gps perhaps? A buddy of mine bought an ultra classic and got 1500 in freebies. Also, what are the benefits of buying new vs used. Wait until they announce the 2009 models early in July and then make your decision. New models usually make the previous years models go down in price which is good for folks looking to buy and bad for those wishing to sell. |

If "affording one now" means you can write the check and drive if off; then don't wait. But if "affording one now" means financing the bike, be sure to play an aggressive game of "what if" before committing to payments. Especially if you're buying new; Buells seem to take a big hit on resale the first year. I'd hate to see your bike for sale 6 months down the road, because your situation suddenly changed... I bought my '06 Uly used (May/06), with 850 miles for $8500, because I couldn't justify 12Gs for a new toy. And, I had no intention of financing. At the time the local Buell dealers (there are 4 within 50 mi.) would not budge off the list price. They lost a sale, I saved some money. |
