Hi there,
Idle problem, I Have read all posts of very similar problems from this web site, and I have done several things but it haven't cures.

It's actually happening after the bike warms up. the bike runs fantastic, but not on idle, It wants to stall, die, to the point where no matter the throttle position it shuts the bike down to a crawl
high-idles and slowly returns to 1K and it never fites to 1K, and it's continually oscillates up and down to 1k.

I Have sprayed contact cleaner on throttle body and intake manifold looking for vacuum leaks,I have found nothing, I Have checked all sensor wires and I also replaced ETS, the 02 work well because I have seen it in the VDSTS, the AFV is 100 after ride in closed loop learn mode.

I think that the TPS is bad.

Has had anyone similar problems?

ANY IDEAS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED....

It may not be electrical in nature. Have you checked the fuel pressure?
How about debris in the fuel injectors?
How about the fuel tank vent line, is it clear and the tank vent check valve operating OK?

Ok!! Sparky and thanks for your tips, but It's happening after the engine is pretty warms up (around 400F), the idle sets in 2k and drop down very slowly to 1K, and when the engine is around 250F the idle start oscillates down 1K, wants to stall, die, I don't know what happening....

I also noticed that when I did TPS reset and after I have to set it on 6.5 degrees by the idle at 1.000 Rpm, I believe they are too much degrees at 1.000 Rpm..., What do you think?....

I will check every things so you say the next weekend and I will let you know

I have put in a four wire(heated) O2 sensor.

This sends infor to the ecm about 4 times per second when viewed on megalogger.

The bike runs much better when idling around through car parks etc now.

The standard O2 only would send info about 1 time per second.

Thanks for your reply Bombardier, I thought that nobody was to say nothing.

I have removed manifold & injectors today and have seen the seals intake manifold and injectors o-ring worn out, I will receive new ones the next monday and will install them, I hope solve it.

I would appreciate it if you could tell me what kind 02 has installed and how the assembly in.

Will take some photos today and post them here to show what I have done.

I still get the rough running after about two hours which I believe is a AIT sensor problem from before the breather hoses were rerouted.

Or it may be the fuel temp/pressure problem.

The ait is in the red on Megalogger at normal operating temp and the intake temp seems a little high from just after startup( quite a bit higher than ambient)so I am thinking that the sensor may be sending false readings and is just out of whack from all the oil that was on it from new.

After I check out the ait issue I am going to find a way to log the fuel pressure over a long(2-3 hour)ride to see if the pressure regulator of fuel temp is contributing to the rough running as the fuel level drops.

Not sure how I will log it but will find a way I am sure.

The head temp sensor is also a very likely culprit. They can go bad and still not throw a fault code, and when they do, the engine can run pretty bad. I don't know a better way to test it than to just put a new one in.


in order to know the fuel pressure you can try the following

A common problem is a wiring break in a fuel injector lead. You can easily tell if you have a broken wire, and which cyl. is affected by removing the plugs and spinning the engine over with the starter. Keep the throttle open, there should be gas coming out of the plug holes if the injectors are working, if one of the cyls. is dry, trace the wire out, you will most likely find the break where it crimps into the terminal end.

I changed out the head temp sender at the same time I put in the new O2 sensor as I had the motor rotated anyway. Thanks for the input.

I am going to go with the iat first as the logger shows the temp too hot but if that does not work I will check what you said about the injector harness.

Check and ensure that the screws that holds the FI butterfly to the shaft are in place and tight.

I have already solved the idle problem (slow return to 1K)the intake manifold seals and injectors o-ring were the culprits, but when I have changed them I noticed that Throttle and idle Cable were worn-out and rather broken.

I placed an online order to Al (American Sport Bike)today.

I believe those where a recall item. Also there is a bulletin about throttle clamp for the cables at the throttle body. Might look into installing them. That is an item on my short list.
