When I first start up the bike when cold, even after letting it idle a couple of minutes, when I put it in gear, the bike will stall. It also happens if I'm starting it in gear with the clutch in and I can feel it pull the bike. Is it a clutch or cable issue?

It could be adjustment needs to be done. But there is an adjustment for the cable and another in the clutch.

First adjust the cable for the correct free play at the lever. If that doesn't fix it, then set the adjuster at the clutch end, I think it's 1/4 turn out from bottommed, and readjust slack in the cable for about 1/16th inch at the lever end.

It might also be as simple as overfilled transmission fluid. Did the problem started after changing the transmission lube or adding to it?
