Requesting information on header wraps; is their documentation or opinions on it? I guess the question is, do they really work? Thanks

Do they work? Yeah, they will wrap around the pipe.

my $0.02:
I have always wrapped headers until I bought an XB. To much trouble rotating engine to wrap/re wrap.

This is pulled from Webbikeworld.com

Exhaust Insulating Tape Wrap: Thermo Tec makes an insulating wrap for exhaust headers that is claimed to increase horsepower while reducing the external temperature by up to 70%. Wrapping headers with Header Wrap maintains hotter exhaust gases that exit the system faster through decreased density. Increased exhaust scavenging is produced, along with lower intake temperatures. Withstands continuous heat up to 2000° F, and contains no asbestos"

My father-in-law did this with his Harley and it looks great.

I recently unwrapped my 9. And everyone says it sounds higher pitched.
*Deepens the tone of the exhaust note.
*Looks sweet
*"Improves power"(this is debatable)
*Keeps ambient temps down.
*Insulates your hot exhaust pipe so nosey kids dont get burnt too badly.(Girlfriend has nieces that like to put their hands on everything)

Have mine wrapped like a Christmas gift...If you do, dont forget to use the wrap paint, or you'll wish you did. Oh and get the wrap nice and wet to apply it...I didnt..but wish I did. Have fiber glass stuck in me for days and my lungs Im sure of it. In fact...Just read the full directions first...I didnt obviously. I dig the look...sorta an old school badass thing.

You don't need to rotate the motor to install the Header Wrap. DEI Makes Header wrap also.

You can wrap the headers without roatating the engine down.

I have not noticed much difference in the heat put out on my right thigh.

Part of the noise difference noticed is intake.
Wrapping headers keeps a lot of the heat in the pipe, speeding up the exhaust gases.
Speeding up the exhaust gases in turn speeds up the intake of air.

I haven't ever rotated or taken off the headers when I wrapped mine.

Painting with a high temp paint helps with longevity in a major way. Also keeps the header looking like a wrapped header, and not a crusty mummy.
The Summit Racing wrap kit comes with silicone spray paint, clamps, and enough to wrap twice.

I have not noticed much difference in the heat put out on my right thigh.
I didn't either...until I had to take it off.
Time for me to re-wrap.

+2 on the heat reduction. Makes a pretty big difference, especially in the summer.

Glitch,

Have you noticed any performance change since the wraps?
