Hi to you all, I have just put down my greenbacks for an XB9S in CT, USA..picking it up on Saturday..first thing I want to do is relocate the license plate and get rid of the holey thing on the back..In the UK we would call that a tea strainer...any suggestions ,I am sure it is probably on the board some where but I don't know where to start Regards Adrian | ||

We call it a cheese grater on this side of the pond. I don't know of slick way to remove it. I think it certainly might look better though. | ||

Well actually, i dont want to trash the grater, i want to remove it and replace it..and then I want to get a kit to relocate the plate under the rear light...or I could duct tape my plate to my back of course | ||

Oh, that's different then. A couple of the XB owners here have swapped S and R tail sections, at least a few have done the cut and hack job (not easily reversable), and I believe a couple of the site sponsers sell license plate relocators. For the aftermarket stuff start with Tat at American Sport Bike. The guys who have done the mods will probably chime in here fairly soon, or tomorrow. The screened section does not unbolt from what I've been told, which is why I suggested the cutting tool method. Have fun with it. And post a pic of the process and finished results if you can. If you don't want to cut it, several aftermarket kits for eliminating the fender and relocating the license bracket and turn signals are out there. Try Trojan Horse or American Sport Bike. I'm too lazy to get the links right now...if no one posts them by tomorrow I'll toss them up then. Bryan | ||

Fed, Yes, I picked the bike up at Stamford on Sat morning and managed to get in 20 miles before the heavens opened, I am now working away from home all week so it sits in the garage until this Saturday..hope its fine and we don't get to much weather from the hurricane. Let me know where you live in CT, we could get together sometime, I am going to try to get to the next Marcus Dairy meet in Danbury. Adrian | ||

Adrian, I got my bike in Danbury, but live in Westchester, about 20 minutes from Marcus. SI would be glad to meet you sometime at Marcus, as I am the only Firebolt in my neighborhood. Have caught a couple of S's roaming around though. |
