Hi Guys,
First off, I am thrilled that you like your exhausts (as I knew you would of course) : )

The issue of damage in transit is extremely annoying, as I actually added extra packaging before sending them out in the original manufacturers boxes 'just in case'. I think that it shows that the original boxes may just be too thin, and that Fedex are not too gentle with their parcels, so will need to be addressed in future.

Thanks for posting the Youtube clips. Would you mind if I used them on our web page?

yez, I look like a dork.
After I installed the pipe I fired it up to warm up before recording the second clip. I was pumped!!

I am curious about how this pipe affects the EFI. I know that I had to install a Dynojet Power Commander III USB on my 998 with 54mm Arrow race pipes just to get it back in tune. Can the Buell FI learn this pipe all by itself? I have been reading about all of the problems that folks have been having with the stock set-up, so it seems that this pipe would have it in fits and starts.

For me it runs the same as before... Which is crappy... Lots of surging around 3500 rpm. (Same as with the stock pipe).

When the pipe first went on it kept stalling, but since it has "learned" and got back to about where it was stock. Anything over 4k is perfect.

I'd kill for a PCIII to smooth out the lower RPM.

FYI my bike does not have the new flash yet.
My dealer told me it was not available in Canada yet, and will call me when it is.. lol.

Cheers,

Mike

I have to deal with city traffic from time to time, so I removed my inner air box cover. Much smoother, getting better gas mileage and it contributes to the deep tone.

Once ECMspy works on the 1125R we'll be able to custom tune the fuel maps using the factory computer. No PCIII garbage hack needed.

We should all do what we can to help the ECMspy project with this endeavor. It will be greatly beneficial.

What I've found on being around Shawn Higbee's 1125R that he races at Willow Springs (and a couple others) is the new ECM used in the 1125R has MUCH MORE capability than anything prior (tubers, XB, etc) and we've seen a few dyno pulls with different exhausts/intakes (Higbee and others) - and so far, the Air/Fuel has tracked perfectly without having to mess with the stock ECM.

I'd be inclined to think that until you get into cams, bigger valves, higher compression, weird fuel - that you'd likely be fine just putting on the exhaust and doing intake mods but you ought to put it on the dyno for a couple pulls just to make yourself feel better.

YMMV - all the usual cautions, voiding warranty, yadda yadda yadda

The intake mods were just the K&N intake. He hadn't done any cold air mods to the intake yet.

Higbee is working on suspension and gearing primarily before the engine.

Again, there's so much more to be gained in suspension than there is in engine - and good suspension doesn't affect reliability!

They had put on the D&D pipe but it would have dragged on the ground when leaned over. Don't know if they'd given that feedback to D&D or if they're just going to do their own mods to it in the race shop.

Pic from D&D website shows what I'm saying. Visualize the bike leaned over and the pipe will drag:

I just think that D&D was trying for LOUD and the LOOK - without regard to the fact that people might actually want to TURN the bike. That pipe really does stick out pretty wide.

Loud pipes ARE a problem in racing too. Even though they might sound kinda cool, noise is becoming an issue. I have been told that my Beson has to go in 2009... and Willow Springs is FAR away from residential areas... oh well.

I'll have to go look see in a couple weeks when we have the bike out here again. I never opened a thing on the bike - all we did was change oil and tires.

I heard Mitsu mention K&N intake and the failure to get the D&D to work (ground clearance) I just assumed they did the same intake mods as done to the XB. I am assuming that is uses the same K&N.

Doubt if I'll see anything for the next couple weeks - or if I see one of the guys, I'll certainly ask.

OK - went and looked at Matt's post of the Saron exhaust and just compare it to the image of the D&D (above) - you can SEE that Saron did their homework when they built that chamber and tailpipe.

Note in the Saron image linked below that NONE of the exhaust extends out sideways past the footpeg (unlike the D&D)

(Ignore the circle - that was something Matt talked about on the other page)

Price is shown in UK Pounds on the web site and doesn't include discount. The final price including discount would be GBP566.81 or approximately US$1110 plus shipping (around GBP65 or US$127).

The price on the web site is GBP612.77 (US$1201 at todays exchange rate of GBP1=US$1.96)
After the discount of 7.5% the price works out at approximately US$1110.

I got a part# 33-2370 k&n filter. I had to trim the side alittle to fit, but works good so far.

Sounds awesome at idle Nick, huge improvement but I just got to ask... what are you doing with the brake, turn signals, are you just like ocd and have to check them any time you start the bike or what? funny stuff (Nick)

the mirrors???????

Did you put bar-ends on?
There's about a half-dozen other parts that will drag before the stock mirrors...
