I bought my Uly 1 week ago off the showroom floor and put 820 miles on it already! I'm sure there are people with more miles in the first week but I just had to tell SOMEBODY (apparently my wife could care less.) A few things I noticed so far: 1) It doesn't like to go slow (runs rough when slow, for example city riding 30MPH.) 2) It doesn't like running in a down pouring rain - spits and sputters. 3) At freeway speeds it feels like I'm going to get ripped off the bike no matter how low I tuck and duck! And the "death grip" on the bars can't be sustained too long - few hours at best. (I have the short flyscreen) 4) The headlights leave a lot to be desired 5) It is far and away the most enjoyable thing I've driven. 6) I smile more, and view work as "breaks" between saddling up and riding/exploring 7) I get a kick out of looking oncoming pickup truck drivers in the eye while we pass each other because this thing is so damn tall! 8) This things got more power then I'll ever need! Just a few things that came to mind today...the more I ride it the more I like it! | ||

Right on! I don't know of any other bike that elicits the same concept of "smiles" or "grins" or "permasmirk" (in my case). I have a slick, low Harley too (I like to cruise, low and loud, around town too...), but when I get on the Uly, I totally forget about the Hog and say to myself - even before the first stop sign - that if I had to pick ONE bike, the Uly would be it! I can only agree. By far the most fun I've ever had on a bike. My Ural's sitting in the garage and only gets used when I take the wife with me. She wont ride the Uly d/t her back. Have fun | ||

Best bike I have ever owned. I bought mine last August and already have 9,000 miles and 9,000 smiles. The bike is easy to critique but hard not to like. Fun, fast and furious. | ||

One of my favorite things about the bike (besides the great suspension) is the seat - I can stay in the stock seat all day without any complaints. Seems like a small thing until you're in it all day. John . | ||

I bought mine (an XT) a week ago Saturday. I have 1250 miles on here now. Last night I did the 100 mile service on her! I'm surprised to hear you have a sputtering issue in the rain, I rode mine for seven hours in the rain this past weekend without a hiccup. The XT has the tall screen so no issues with the wind, most of those seven hours were at 70 +/- mph. I felt as fresh getting off as I did getting on, and the smile never left my face! Yes, the headlights could be better, I re-aimed mine a few degrees higher and it makes a world of difference. Most entertaining, most comfortable machine I have ridden in 35 years of riding. i bou8ght mine on the 5th of may and have put 1359 miles on still need to get first oil change done (thats set up at bumpas in mboro for today ) to get it ready for thunder on the rock. I LOVE MY BIKE !!!!!! it is the best bike i ever rode. CONGRADES ON YOUR ULY | ||

My 06 (bought about a month ago) is probably one of the best all around bikes I've ever owned. Comfortable, quick enough to get me in tons of trouble if I let it, it handles a super-crappy washed out gravel driveway to a spot where we're building a house, it cruises the highway just fine...and no hiccups in the rain out of mine either (which is good, because its my "bad weather bike" - it lets my S2 stay clean for a change!). 1400 miles and going strong! | ||

Most awesome machine I've ever owned. This past weekend I hit the fire roads off Rampart Range Rd and rode it hard dirt bike style, 17" wheel be damned, it worked great! | ||

Glad you're loving the bike. We can help you make it even better.  1) It doesn't like to go slow You can replace the primary chain and sprocket with the one for a XB9Sx. This lowers the gearing by 11% and fixes the jerkyness. 2) It doesn't like running in a down pouring rain - spits and sputters. Check your plug wires. 3) At freeway speeds it feels like I'm going to get ripped off the bike no matter how low I tuck and duck! Make sure your riding gear isn't acting like a parachute? Or try the windscreen of an XB12XT. 4) The headlights leave a lot to be desired Yes they do. Lots of options for upgrades. A low beam HID conversion has served a lot of people well. | ||

Great comments and great suggestions by all! So many friendly people and so willing to help, it's a fantastic site to represent a fantastic bike! Another observation is that it seems the more people see this bike, the more they stop and stare and ask questions. Most memorable so far are: 1) What kind of dirt bike is that?!?! Is that a beemer? <-- I'm still clueless how HE could be so clueless! 2) Look at the size of that rear sprocket, can it wheelie? 3) Why did you get THAT color? RESPONSE - "Orange makes it stand out, YOU seen it and came over didn't you? Should I have gotten asphalt Camo instead?" 4) It's so tall! How do you even get on it? RESPONSE -"I scale it like King Kong would..." 5) when warming it up I've had more then a few people comment that it sounds like a Harley! RESPONSE - "Ya really think so?" | ||

almost 10k on my '06 12X...going into service for oil leaking from clutch cable. I have a friend had the same problem with his. is this a common issue? | ||

Test7 - Mine would seep enough oil to collect dirt. Never enough to actually have a drip. Replace the clutch cable regardless. You'll be surprised how much less clutch effort is required with a new cable. I just replaced one on my 06. It's definitely going in my list of things to do every couple of years. |
