Thanks Bigdaddy. I love 'em like that. Kristi- The thinking was I wanted the grab handles in black to go with the rear part of the tail section, or more correctly tail section loop as the service manual calls it. The first time I strapped something to the original goldish grab handles the powdercoating scratched. This was odd considering that the original powdercoating on the used grab handles I prepped for the Line-X was truly a PITA to sandblast off. So essentially I wanted some coating that was durable and could take the abuse that I would give it. Even though the texture is different than both the bags and the triple tail I still dig the results. The price for the Line-X ended up being a little more than what I was originally quoted, but after sandblasting the grab handles showed numerous flaws and the fact that the Line-X smoothed out and covered up everything to make them look pristine seemed to make the end result worth the effort and expense. In preparation for June and July (a further explanation will be forthcoming - once all the details are hammered out - as it's going to be a blockbuster...) I will soon have (nearly) all the takeoff parts up for sale. The only thing spoken for at this point is the tail section. 1313 |

Spike, I do hope that you are OK! You are clearly in bike shopping mode. So I'm kind of puzzled to see you posting something from the H-D website. It almost makes me think you are entertaining the idea of an H-D for your next bike. Getting busted by Sarah while you were doing wheelies on the way back from the Red Robin doesn't have anything to do with this, does it? Say it ain't so! 1313 |

I'm not too crazy about Fords, but this looks pretty interesting:

Getting busted by Sarah was pretty funny, but it hasn't affected my motorcycle purchasing criteria. I was only on the HD site to see the extent of the "fear" ad campaign and have some fun with it. Having said that, I wouldn't mind having an FLHT or an FXD in my garage to go along with whatever proper-handling motorcycle I happen to own at the time. On that note, I did come across this '02 FXDXT for $7500 on craigslist: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/671206743.html I haven't priced these lately, but that seems like a steal for one of the best handling HD big twins ever produced. |

I always hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I feel a need to post this message. My wife's lovely little sister Suzanne "Suki" died yesterday. She was at home with a case of the flu, and made the mistake of taking a couple of sleeping pills, and sadly to say, it was enough to kill her. We are all heartbroken, and shocked from the terrible news. Needless to say, Patty is devastated. They loved each other very much. I'm sure they were no more than 18 months apart in age. So, I'll be on the road today to help pack up and bring our son's things home from WCU. I still might ride up to the mill tomorrow to maybe help clear my head, but not sure. |

Sporty - Yes I think that will be good. My schedule may be a bit unpredictable this weekend. Any time after 6:00 am works. I'll have my kids, so we would need to do it at my house. That might work out better anyway, in case something breaks. |

I'm down for saturday morning. Hey jim where do you live? Also what should I bring. So far I'm planning on bringing the service manual for my 04 xb12s. (primary directions should be the same) my big torque wrench, and the primary lock tool. Anything else I need to bring? -mike |

Jim/Mark/Mike- It sounds like you guys have it covered as far as tools and extra hands, but since I'm "between" motorcycles at the moment I'd like to come over and hang out for the primary swap if you guys don't mind. Of course, I could bring any of my tools/stands if needed. |

Seeing - I'll PM you my address. I have a Uly service manual and the lock tool. I definitely need the big wrench and the gear & chain. Hopefully we have a socket large enough to fit the nut somewhere. I assume we need red locktite? Anyone have a tube? All mine is blue. Spike - Would be great to see you. |

I have a tube of red locktite and I had the sockets to remove the primary from my M2, but I have no idea what size they are or if the XB even uses the same size. If anyone knows what the sizes are I'll bring those, otherwise I can just bring my assortment of large sockets. Also, how early are you guys planning on meeting? |

Well, I thought I was going to go pick up a Firebolt this weekend, but the bank put a 7-day hold on the check I got for the Ulysses. Bummer. |

I have a torque wrench, but it isn't rated high enough to torque the primary bits. Also, did anyone remember a new primary gasket to go along with this swap? |

Since the Sabre still isn't ridable I'll be in my car either way. I'll go ahead and bring my stands and whatever other tools seem appropriate. If you guys think of anything else before I get there in the morning give me a call. |

Seeinstars has a Torque Wrench. I've got a multitude of gaskets: primary cover, and two for the shifter seal. I know I've got a primary inspection cover gasket laying around somewhere, I don't know if I have one for the fill hole. Spike - bring your camera if you would. Several people have expressed interest in knowing how this goes. You usually take excellent pictures. BTW, I've got a several quarts of M1 15w50. It is my understanding that HD said in 07 that you could use Syn3 (as opposed to strictly formula+) in the primary. I'm going to assume that M1 is good too. If anyone thinks this is wrong, let me know and I'll go buy a quart of formula+ in the morning. |
