Is this a common problem? When the bike is running, it is coming out pretty good at a spot on the front about a inch long. Could something else inside be faulty or just needs a new gasket?
I was supposed to leave in the morning to go on a trip.Bummer.

Pretty common. You might want to check your primary vent to make sure its not plugged up with anything.

Either way its a very ez fix, just torque the cover properly & you should have no further issues.

Yup. My M2 has leaked from nearly every gap. It becomes discouraging, but I guess it is just par for the course. Nothing like my '62 BSA, but still... one would think they could manufacture a bike which holds the oil INSIDE. <sigh>

If torquing the cover properly doesn't fix it completely, definately change it. Mine went a couple of weeks ago and got plenty of oil on the rear tire which can make riding a bit interesting. Once we pulled the cover off, we found that the gasket had degraded. About two hours (half wrenching and half shooting the poop) had the problem solved. Oh and a burnout to get the oil off of the tire.

LOL - when I went and bought new gaskets the price was up because they had been superceded by a new style simular to the rockercover style - I gladly payed the higher price for two - since I plan to inspect the primary of both bikes since they are both 2001. Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

15,000 without a leak (since I changed the rocker box gaskets). 30,000 total.
