Howdy, I'm just wondering how many miles most of you put on your bikes. A friend suggested the XB's reputation for reliability might be due to the fact that they're not rode very often. I’m most likely going to go with a Buell in the very near future, but I put about 10-12k a year on my machines and don’t want to ask more of my next bike than it can deliver. Thanks, Randy | ||

10,000 miles! An XB will laugh at that. I've got 14,000 on mine, with only minor issues. It was picked up June 28th, 2002. I know at least one person on the board has over 20,000 on his already, I'm sure there are others in the 13,000-20,000 range. And many if not most or all of the people on this board with XBs ride them hard, too. (I don't get to as often as I like, but I've pressed it many times and it just looks for more) Bryan | ||

Got mine at the beginning of this past April. Close to 8000 miles and the only issue I've had is me being impatient... Shut-up Bryan...(inside joke)  | ||

HA! Actually, the weather's been REALLY agreeable around here for pretty much the past month. I can't believe I'm still in Michigan. It's been 70s and sunny for the past week solid. Maybe even the state's decided to give us a break since the Lion's up and won a game. | ||

Glitch, I’m actually the guy who posted last month about the Lightening compared to the Bonnie and Monster 800. I’m still waiting for my parents’ estate to be settled. Right now I ride a beastly '95 Triumph Trident 900 with jet kit, ignition advancer, K&N filter, Race Tech front-end and converted six-piston caliper brakes. It’s a great bike with a meaty torque curve, but it’s too big [read: tall] for me. I want to get into a middle-weight sporting standard, and have always wanted a Buell. The plan is to either get the Lightning and keep the Trident as my two-up machine or get the Buell and trade the Trident in for a Bonnie so my wife can ride on her own. I figure that I can always sell the Trident for 4k, too. Randy | ||

Just rolled past 7k. The only attention the bike has required besides oil changes, fuel, & tires has been to re-tighten the head bearings. | ||

Shoot...I've got an X1 with 45K on it. No problems other than blown speedo sensors (now fixed), leaky rocker boxes (now fixed), and a bad stator. | ||

Hell I have an X1 with 11,000 miles on it & outside of 2 dropped valves, leaky primary gasket, snapped off shifter shaft, 2nd gear fragged, & a final motor meltdown..it has been flawless. | ||

03' XB9S picked up in December of 02'. I live in Gunnison Colorado which if you look at the weather much is the coldest place in Colorado most of the time. I have 8500 really hard miles and only a few problems. Neck bearing failed (very early on), Didn't start once after riding in much rain (started the next day no problem, probably my fault while changing bars), and now some shudder in front brake (probably needs new pads after what I do to that bike). I think it is very reliable for what it takes from me. I am putting my 4th rear tire on it as soon as it arrives. Highly recommend. It may not be as "bullet proof" as a Yamaha, but who cares, it is SOOOOO MUCH cooler. Morgan |
