Still - back to the question - would the basic 1250cc kitted(cyl & piston)XB9 beat out the regular XB12 - good question - still no answers posted - lol - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

I dont think anyone knows. How about putting a kitted 9 up against a kitted 12? Arent the cc's on that somewhere around 1400cc or so? |

The problem is that it's the wrong question. You want to beat a 12 with a 9? Always work on the thing that's holding the motor back. |

OK, given same displacements (though the 12 gets it's with stroke, and the 9 would get it from bore, correct?) and the same ecm/pipe configurations, I would guess that the kitted 9 would get the upper hand. in the 1/4...in the 1/8 I would go with the 12. thoughts? |

Aaron, Given one of your Nallinized 9 turned into a 12 or the stock from the factory 12 which has more power?? |

We delivered one not too long ago that made 107hp on our dyno. |

Buelliedan, that's not a fair comparison as the Nallinized bike has a force pipe and ecm upgrades. |

Aaron, Let me ask the question this way, everything being equal. Both the 9 & 12 with the same displacement.Which one would be faster, rev. quicker, the long stroke or the short stroke motor? Thanks.........Later Charlie |

Wow this turned from a comparison thread to "My bike is better than your bike" thread. Too funny I guess I will go fix my "Inferirior" (as I have heard it being refered as) and go for a ride. |

Maybe some day soon someone will post a dyno chart like the XB12 vs. Ducati... I'd like to see it out of curiosity. It doesn't really matter about the "mine bettern yers" as I've not even come close to exploiting all the XB9 can do. Mike (has an XB9r) can leave me at will... My ego can take it as I'm not a racer just a rider. |

Well, you've got almost the same volume of cylinder to fill, and you've got the same heads with the same valves and the same cams. So the main things that determine the motor's power are all the same. I can see a couple advantages to the big bore 9 based motor, though. First, the rev limit won't be a constraint (or won't constrain it as much). That's assuming you're still making power above the 12's 7K limit (i.e. your cylinder fill is not dropping as fast as your rpm is rising). Second, the bigger bore moves the hot cylinder wall away from the intake valve and unshrouds it a bit, potentially giving it a VE advantage over the undersquare motor. If you used a set of heads on the big bore 9 that took advantage of the bigger bore, that'd be even better, but we're talking stock heads here, right? 'Course, the 12 has a bigger throttle body and different injectors, so those things are less likely to constrain it. Unless you swapped them onto the big bore 9 and/or bored the 9's throttle body. I don't know, it'd be an interesting experiment, but my gut feel is the big bore 9 would be the better setup. edited by Aaron on September 04, 2003 |

Sorry Gonen but most of the Buell riders I see are actually wearing Harley t-shirts. See very few with Buell shirts. And tassled chaps? You having fantasies again? Sorry but no chaps..tassled or otherwise here. No leather fringe on myself or the bike either. |

Aaron, If a person supplied you with a 03 XB9R how much would it cost to have it Nallinized into one of those 107hp 12s?? Please include the cost for the Force exhaust, dynajet, etc if you could. |

The other one of our group that had a Harley derby cover on his bike had it literally SHOOT off while we were at Milan dragway. Sailed a good six feet before it hit the ground. Guess the ol' Lightning didn't like having it on there... |
