Hey All. Just a quick question for anyone who may have done or seen this done. As a rider who has passed his 40th birthday (not old but not getting any younger), I think I'd prefer to change my XB12R riding position to the more upright position of the Lightning/Uly's. If you've done this please let me know. The main problems I am foreshadowing is the placement of the bars in relation to the openings in the front fairing (clearing the plastic - may not be an issue with the way the Lightning handlebars are on the tank side of the fork bolts and the Firebolt clip ons are on the fairing side of the Fork top bolts). Secondly and most complexing to me would be how to mount the ignition. Since the Firebolt has the mounting point integrated into the top triple tree, and the Lightning has the ignition integrated into the flyscreen bracket. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Charley (Message edited by xbueller12rocks on August 03, 2008) |

Steve MacKay here on Badweb has done what you are looking for. He has a UlyBolt! Just search for UlyBolt and it will come up. Good luck! |

I like the Helibars. They bring the bars back and up to a riding position that suits me better. I'm over 50 and I duck off for 2000km round trips on a long weekend. I found the standard bars put too much weight on my hands, but since I changed to the Helibars its the seat that's the limit of each stretch. They go on easily, no change of cables and you keep your ignition switch. I've put this pic here a few million times, so one more won't hurt Edit: The bottom pic shows the Helibars sitting on top of the Fireblt triple clamp. If you run the Lightning pegs on the Firebolt you get a more comfortable riding position. IMO, the Lightning riding position would be too upright with a Firebolt Fairing.
