Is it possible to bench test the cooling fan from a XB12X? The wires coming from the fan side of the connector are yellow and black. My assumption is that you could simply connect a 12 volt power source, yellow to positive ; black to ground, and the fan would run. I tried this scenario and the fan will not run and I do know for sure it is not a dead fan. I thought the temperature control on/off for the fan was controlled by the ECM and not right at the fan. Is this correct? Thanks for any help on this question. |

if you're just trying to make it turn on: with the fan plugged into the harness, short the BK/O wire on the fan to the Neg terminal on the battery (sick a wire into the back of the connector) could use frame, or engine i suppose, but battery is probably the better way. bike doesn't have to be on for this to work. i don't know why it wouldn't work if you plugged it into 12v power. |

Thanks X....as it turns out the fan is dead...who knows why. But indeed it should just run when 12v is applied. Who knows why the fan died. I did decide to do pull it apart and it appears the brushes were worn out. Crappy design. Hope the the replacement is better |
