I thought I had won this information battle with my dealer. My dealer tries to be Buell friendly. The general manager even rides a Uly. The service manager and Buell techs seem to be enthused about the 1125 even. They have one part time Buell tech and one full time Buell tech. Nice guys and seem to have a good attitude. Never had any problems with them on the XBs. But with out a manuel or training on the 1125 these guys are lost. I'm always having to tear into the bike now after I get it back from them to get the air filter tucked in right, or get the back of the airbox screwed to it's mount correctly, or reconnect the vent tube to the carbon canister and the like. The part time tech who last worked on the bike had just got the B-070 update. I should have seen this one coming when the full time tech said he'd use one of their new 1125's owners manuels to have the check list for the break in service. So my question is which drain plug would be the best one to use to try to only drain about one quart of oil?  (Message edited by unibear12r on April 27, 2008) | ||

The right side with it on the side stand. Not much if any will come out and will soon stop if it does. You can then tip the bike to the right to drain little bits at a time. That's the way I corrected my over fill. | ||

I have not tried it myself but, what about sucking some out of the dipstick hole? IMHO (from 2 oil changes) either drain plug will drain VERY quickly. Neil S. | ||

Just buy your own turkey baster to suck it out with, don't use the wife's! | ||

I tried the turkey baster thing, didn't work worth a flip. But, maybe I had a cheap one. | ||

I used a 60cc syringe and a spinal tap needle. Just the right length. Z | ||

Thanks guys. That would have to be a very thin turkey baster! Syringe? LOL! With the amount of oil they put in I'd be doing this till next week I think!  One of those little hand pumps would work best but I don't have one and I wanted to try to get it done last night. The right plug with the bike on the stand dropped exactly one quart into an empty syn3 perfect with no mess. A cold check showed no change. I wasn't up to the full hot check that late but a close approximate showed level with the max line. However a by the book hot check this morning put it just at the over full line. Anybody have a clue how much oil to drain to get from over full to max? I had planned on riding my bike for fun today but it looks like I'm going to be riding the same 10 miles, hot check, cool, drain,repeat,repeat today. | ||

Based on my experience about 1/3 quart to go from the overfill line to the max line. Just a guess based on recollection from draining mine. | ||

Turned out to be about 1/4 of a quart on mine. Thanks for the info everybody. |
