Does anybody around here own a carbon fiber helmet.. this one in particular by hjc-> http://www.leatherup.com/product.asp?pf_id=AC%2D12 %2DCARBON

I think the weight of this helmet (which is 3 pounds)is well worth the extra money, for long rides especially.

Are there any other brands besides this one that makes them, I didnt see that Bell or shoei makes a carbon fiber helmet...? ? ?

I have one, I generally like it, but it isn't the quietest helmet in the world. It's very light, the ventilation is good, and it comes with a very nice carrying bag. I think I paid about $275 for mine, I'm reasonably happy with it.

I believe my Schuberth Concept is carbon fiber. Nice and light, a nice helmet, but pricey.

Ok well I looked up some more helmets and found some nice carbon fiber helmets, (found a dainese that weighs 1.4 grams !)I looked up schuberth concept, but im pretty sure they are not carbon fiber, not the ones I found anyway, But the flip up helmets are pretty cool.
When You say that its not the quietest helmet , do you mean you can hear road noise, bike noise, or does the wind cause alot of noise in the helmet, because I dont mind hearing the bike or road noise,
hell without a helmet the loud sound of the wind causes my ears to ring after a while !

thanks Gr8buzz

The HJC is by far the cheapest and most widely available carbon helmet. The weight is like a full pound less than my Arai. I've come close to buying one, but haven't sprung for it yet. They show up on ebay often for quite a bit less than retail list price. They also make the official Harley Davidson logo carbon-fiber helmet.

i've got the hjc carbon. i like it. vents work good, comfortable. there are quieter helmets in general out there, but i don't think the wind noise is unbearable by any means. when riding anywhere but on the interstate i don't seal the visor closed for extra air flow on those warmer days. very satisfied tho overall.

I have the HJC AC-12 non carbon fiber one, but I think it's the same mold, vents, padding, etc. I can not comment on the weight of the carbon fiber one, but I can give you my experiences that I have had with my HJC AC-12. There is a lot of wind noise (more than I would like, anyway), which makes me appreciate earplugs or my MP3 player. I am a bit disappointed with the ventilation, and I have found that it fogs pretty easy on cold days. Strangely, for me, I find that without the chin vent open, I get a strange air flow in front of my face, which is mildly annoying to my eyes. Because of this, I keep the chin vent open 99.99% of the time. These may sound like little gripes, but I would have rather heard 'em before I bought the helmet, rather than finding out after. For the most part, I like the helmet, but I do not have much to compare it to, since I've come from open face MX helmets previously.

I ordered an NXT helmet from NexL Sports in California, way back in May of 2007, and haven't received anything, yet. They say they have a 4 week backlog, but this is more like 4 MONTHS!

If they are truthful in their claims, their carbon-fiber/Kevlar helmets should weigh much less than the HJC. The HJC weighs as much as my G-max with the hinged chin bar.

If I ever receive my helmet, I'll let y'all know what I think of it.
