Yeah, I understand. I get a lotta crap about my Blast, especially from guys who remember my Gold Wing. I just tell them I have a small bike because I have to make up for other things that are too big. |

I've never gotten the cute bike comment. People have asked me if its my first bike and if I am going to get something bigger when i learn a little more, and then I tell them its 984 cc's and their jaws drop. As I am leaving I tend to pop it up and wheelie away just for fun |

I've never gotten a cute comment, and to be honest, the only people to comment on my bike have been folks that know what they are for the most part. I mostly just get looks, like little kids staring out the minivan windows with their faces pressed aginst the glass. I twist the grip a little for them Oh, and there was this one old guy doing yard work as I rode by. The look was priceless - a sportbike that sounds like a chopper, and the guy just this, "Huh???" face. The only bad comment I've gotten was this old crazy guy sitting in his front lawn next to the road with a baseball bat that got up and started yelling something and swinging the bat around as I rode by. |

"I was asked if mine was a "250". I fired it up and they back away with a "whoa!"" ~~~>Skully Well, to be fair, it almost IS a 250...just with four times the motor. |

At a gas station, this guy walks up and says, "Is that the bu - ell?" (2 sylables, buh-ehl). I said, "Yes, it is a Buell CityX." He says, "Oh, no, that is pronounced buh-ehl.. it's a french company" <-- Me I reminded him that these bikes are no where near being built by the french. And in fact, the motor is build by Harley Davidson. And that the founder/designer, Erik Buell is all American. I said this all very nicely and respecfully.. but somehow, he took offense and got all pissy about it. Some folks just don't like to be wrong I guess. Mostly I get the "Man, that bike is bad ass, and sounds like a freeking nightmare!" comments. There are not many Buell around here, maybe about 6 or so. So folks don't get much exposure to them. |

I don't think anyone has called my bike cute. I do remember some fellow trying to tell me I had a bad ass fu*kin' bike as he slowly stopped his weaving up the side walk to take a second look see at my ride. He was also shocked at the price. |

Never got the "cute" comment even though it's a cg model (lowered = even smaller looking). I have gotten a few, "hey that's a badass looking bike" comments though. My big problem is the girl I'm currently dating has never had any exposure to motorcycles, so all I get is silence when the bike comes up in conversation. She knows I love the bike and she won't say a word about it, but I can tell she hates the whole idea of the "death trap" I park in her garage when I come see her. I'm guessing silence is never good from a female lawyer. I don't speak female very well though, so maybe she's just bored with the idea and thinking about buying shoes or something. |

but I can tell she hates the whole idea of the "death trap" I park in her garage when I come see her. Funny story I will share: A few years ago I worked with an ex-CIA/NSA operative. He was semi retired, and decided the corporate world payed better. Well he mentioned he has had problems in the past with girlfriends being against his motorcycle. I asked him, did that end many of your relationships? He commented all he had to do was take them for a ride, at about 48-52mph. I of course was curious why the exact speed. Turns out he had a mid '70s HD, the vibration was just right at those speeds. He said it worked everytime. After that they always wanted to go for a ride. |

Yea thats what got my girlfriends to like riding only I used my dads `80 Shovelhead. Their nails would dig into myside and I'd know that she'd enjoyed the ride even more than I did. |

YIKES BOYS! RUN! Or heck ride outta there fast. Any woman that would even think of asking you to sell something you love, is nuts and you are headed for a not so good relationship. There's some 'female speak' for ya'. Don't dump her just yet, let her try riding herself. Alisha |

Ferris, What's the blow-up doll's name? I just kicked my girlfriend to the curb and was looking for a little less back talk this time... Back to the thread... Had a couple of kids (mid 20s) in a beat up truck stop to talk to me at Mt. Vernon while I was taking a break. Said it was a bada$$ bike and said they were thinking of getting a GXSR7-something. So I gave em the sale pitch about how mine handled, the looks they could see, I fired it up for em and then they said"Wish I could afford a bike that nice." Then I told em the price. They asked me where the nearest dealer was. If I had known the area, I'd have taken them over there myself. |

in female this means, "If we get married you're gonna sell that thing!" I sure hope not. I'd settle for, "If we get married, I'm gonna put a huge life insurance policy on ya." But you never know. She also didn't have a comment when she discovered I got a speeding ticket on the bike while enroute to her house Sunday. I just got "the look". The only thing she said was to ask how fast I was going. I told her the ticket says 80 mph. She raised an eyebrow and asked me how fast I was really going, and this time I didn't have a comment. Probably the smartest thing I could do in that situation. Man I sure hope I never have to call her and beg for bail money. I suspect she may just let me sweat it out for awhile before coming to get me and the bike... I think I'll take ya'lls suggestion and crank it up and let her sit on it for a little while this weekend when I go see her. Maybe that'll at least put the thought in her mind that it may be worth keeping. (-: |

My Harley riding co-workers messed with me a little when I got the XB9S calling it half a bike. My reply was "Yeah, half the weight twice the power." All in fun though as they actually like my bike. |

Yeah, when I tell people my 12R costs THAT much less than the GXR/R1/Ninja/etc they are getting they sort of look confused -- like the world no longer makes sense. On one hand I want more people to get on Buells but on the other hand I like that for the most part squids and 1%ers stay away from em. Call me selfish. |

Speaking of old timers, my garage neighbor at the apartment was hanging around while I was changing the oil on the XB one night last fall. After I topped it off I started it up for a minute, shut her down, checked the level and put it away. He looks over and says, "Is that a race bike?" I loved it. |
