Pwnzor, I went with the free-standing shepherd's hook setup couple of summers ago and my mistake was getting it too close to the tree line. The enemy (the squirrels) took it out via aerial assault. It was really cool to watch |

NUTS TO YOU, SQUIRREL TREE-JIHAAADISTS!!!!!! I've been training my girlfriends dog to chase squirrels. She's getting good enough to know to watch and listen when they're running the trees. We live across the street from an old cemetary, lots of big old trees. It's fun to watch a dog turn into a fur- seeking cruise missle flying low over the graves... then PANIC AND PANDEMONIUM TO THE TREE-RATS!!! |

Bigdaddy, we had the same trial and error period, so now the hooks are at least 8 feet from any fence, and the birds now laugh chirpily at the squirrelites from their lofty perch, safe in the middle of the yard. |
