Cataract, see my post about 6-7 down from the top. Basically, when you go back and forth between the two, th XB feels way slow and not nearly as refined. However, if you get a long enough stretch on the XB by itself, you lose the 1125r comparison factor and the old reasons why you loved the XB in the first place come right back out. I guess the tell tale sign is which bike gets used...since I purchased the 25r in January the only use the XB has seen is the 2 weeks when my 25r was waiting for a new rear tire. |

Fres, well, I figure since my XB9 is paid off I'll keep it and use it for touring or just putting around days. We'll see what happens when I get the 25R. |

Cat, I agree. My XB is paid for, and while it is casually for sale, I am keeping it for possible commuting, long distance riding (I'll stop short of calling it touring), putting around & those times when I just want to be more inconspicuous. I haven't ventured far on the 25r yet--a Throttlemeister is an absolutely must first. |

I had a #22 of 800 red/white 00 X1 (all filter, exhaust,& intake upgrades)& a 05XB12S (ditto upgrades) that were both traded in on the 1125R (H-D gave me well above what I wanted for both bikes). I would do it again, but pick 1 to keep for the ole' classic body&ground shakin' that I miss, and the great gas mpg they gave. And locally the Only Buell guy for miles, so bike nites are cool. I miss the Snarl the X1 gave between gears, how violently I was shaken, and how peopled were truly intrigued of the bike (the exhaust noise of a Harley with a Buell Badge . The Xb was much more refined in the shake and ride was trully spectactcular. But the 1125R is 1 of kind amazing bike, I have never heard of one bike being compared too sooo many other bikes (848 duc,1098 duc, gsxr1000 & 750, hayabusa, ZX14 kaw.). The more read all the reviews & comparisons (positive or negative), The Prouder I Feel To Be a Buell 1125R OWNER, The R has made me a MUCH confident better rider since the purchase in Jan. I would love to go to the 25th Anniversary Buell gathering just to meet Erik Buell and shake his hand and tell him ''Thank You for thinking outside the box, and hitting a homerun with the 1125R''. I would happily buy again with or without all the issues. Go Buell. |

I bought my 1125R last December with the idea of selling the 12R come spring time. Well it is spring time, and I really have no intention of selling the Firebolt now. They are two different motorcycles. I just got through riding the 1125R around the Grand Canyon over Memorial weekend. A little over 850 miles were covered that day, and there is no way I would have attempted that on the 12R. To me it comes across as a great sport/touring bike but it is not my favorite bike around town or just general canyon thrashing. The Firebolt to me is a quicker/easier handling motorcycle with a lot more attitude to it. I get more compliments about the 'bolt styling and color combo versus the 25R. I LOVE THE FIREBOLT. If and when someone figures out how to fix the cruise speed surging I will enjoy the 25R a lot better as a daily rider, but as of right now I am not feeling the mojo. Would I sell the XB to buy the 1125R? Maybe not. |

I don't know if this is the intent of this thread, but my "XB" is a "12X". Which is a different type of motorcycle. So I kept it as I saw the need to keep it as a "Urban Destroyer". It has hard bags to put things in so I can go to a store and by thing and take them home. The trouble is that I always want to ride the 1125R and I'm riding the Uly more and more just to exercise it. I was out in the rain today and I'm glad I wasn't on the Uly as I hid behind the fairing of the 1125R and stayed dry for a long time. However there is a rain suit in the hard bags of the Uly all the time. I love the sound of the Ulysses with the Micron pipes. It's that sort of sound that bike riders come out of the coffee shop to hear. I bought the Uly because I'm a long time dirt rider and Dual sport owner and I wanted to keep one foot in where I was comfortable. How ever, if I can find a way to put some bags on the 1125R for the Haul missions, I'll be looking for good home for my ULY. |

Cutty and Cat, the wheels came off an '03 XB Lightning whose now wearing my 25r wheels. The sticker came from one of those dime a dozen sticker vendors at some flea market. |

You cruise at 2,500 RPM? I must have missed even implying that. |

Bert, the only surging that happens on a "normal" 25r is very low in the rev range. Highway cruising is smooth as butter. That's what i meant. Maybe I misunderstood what you were getting at. |

Mine seems to be thru out the entire band as near as I can tell , just becomes less obvious and smoothed out at higher speeds , gear ratio's and load . More of a methodic form of her tourettes syndrome she has at slower speeds and rpms . IMO |

Thanks for all the sincere and honest feedback. It's helped me make the decision to wait until next year at least. Between the the issues folks are having and the fact that it would make more fiscal sense to wait until i get other debt taken care of, I think this is what's best for me. I don't want to shell out $12k to be a beta tester for the ddfi 3 and have the bike at the dealer every other week. the season and my free time to ride is just too short for all that. my cityx has been solid as a rock, and that's what i'd expect from an 1125r or any other bike. like i said i plan to get one when i'm more ready and buell has fixed the issues. i think i'm gonna put a set of crossroads clip on style bars on the cityx to get a more sporting feel to hold me over and ease the transition to the 1125r in the future. thanks again guys, i really appreciate it and i will continue to follow you guys and the 1125r's continued tweaking/ perfecting. Ben. |
