It's an air filter for compressors. I'm pretty sure it will work just fine, I'm just wondering if I should remove the sintered brass filter. Will it clog up with muck too fast and the send everything to the breather? Thoughts?

Is it glass?? I would not use it if it's glass. I made mine from a empty 8oz bottle of Limited slip additive, just plumbed the breather hoses to a T fitting. Then I ran a hose from the T to the bottle. While the other end of the T is pointed up with a little Air Filter I got at AutoZone for 7 bucks. Less then 12 bucks for everything. It works great and looks good to. (to bad I don’t have a photo) |

Not glass, polycarbonate. I liked this idea because it's already set up for two 1/4" fittings and has a built in drain. Plus I can clearly see when it's time to drain. It's smaller than it looks, only 4"x1.5". |

looks like it would have to fill up 1/4 - 1/3 full to begin to drain. |

It will work. Steeda racing sells those to put inline with the pcv valve to eliminate oil in the intake supply. It will work better if you remove the filter and roll up some scotchbrite to help separate the liquid from vapor. Be careful not to block the flow too much. After reading about oil mist escaping from a well known 130 dollar catch can, I almost put one (pictured above) on mine. Just could not figure out where to mount it. I went ahead and bought the 130 dollar unit for mounting ease and good looks. Added an extension to allow the intake port to discharge near the bottom and as far as possible from the outlet port.
Then added a layer of scotchbrite to catch more liquid.
You would not believe how much spooge/water comes out of the can now. |

Thanks for the scotchbrite idea. I figured this will work just as good and the $110 I'm saving will go toward other goodies. |

Here's how I made mine... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/255661.html?1199063755 The yellow pot scrubber works great as an oil mist separator and will never get clogged. It doesn't let any oil mist out at all. Not very pretty, but it works. |

It has worked well for over a year on my bike. I took out the innards and mounted a small breather filter. The only problem I've encountered is the drain valve at the bottom, doesn't seal really well, so I've put a small cap over the end. Right now it's just zip tied on, just wanted to make sure it was going to work.
