Sure, but are you cutting it off, running vampire taps or did you find a source for a matching plug to make your own harness? |

No the bracket I used from my Uly I sold is a Buell bracket and has 2 plugs on the end. Plug one end into the aux power connector an have another receptacle for another accessory like heated grips. That is the way they designed the system. Also there is a "dummy" plug in there already. It has plugs where the wires would go if you wanted to wire it up to something custom. You would I believe have to buy pins for it. I do not remember if there were any in the dummy plug. |

you could try this for a plug and harness. Y0198.1AK SOCKET, auxilliary power outlet for the Uly. Cut off the power outlet and you have a connector with wires. about 15 bucks at your dealer. or you could use the dummy plug (Y0170.5A8 CONNECTOR, 2-way (grey) and ask your dealer to crip pins onto some wire and make a harness. I think the power outlet would be cheaper. (Message edited by Two_Buells on March 22, 2008) |

The connector on the harness is female. The dummy plug is male, sans pins. Remove the dummy plug. Tin the ends of the wires you want power to. Determine polarity, stick the wires in the right connector holes. Run some Black-Tape around the connector end to close it and hold the wires. Or do as somebody else, I forget who, and stick the wires in the holes and push the dummy plug into place. Enjoy your new accessory. Z |

FWIW, this is an e-mail from Convertibars: Important Installation Considerations: It appears that ConvertiBARS will fit up, but the stock handlebar mounts, molded into the triple clamp, will restrict positioning. Well I bit the bullet. I should have the Convetibars on Wednesday, Thursday the latest, with adapters for my Throttlemeister (Oh Yeah). I'll have to play with them to see what "extremes" I can get w/o stretching anything too much or getting hard contact. If I can get 1"-1.5" back and 1"-2" up, it will make my reach challenged arms much happier and my back. Since I have a trip planned to STL this weekend I seem to have farkels lined up and waiting: Convertibars, HID, 1100X, Zumo 550. There is a FULL days worth of fun. Time4Home Neil S. |
