No Joke, I have been looking for a year now and even tried contacting the people in the UK. I still cannot find a usb cable that someone has or can make. If anyone can point me in the right direction Id really appreciate it. |

well ill be damned..... I went to or found the ECMSPY.COM website http://www.ecmspy.com/kabel_pc.shtml I followed these directions. i sent a email with the above link to the ecm spy website and asked whom ever it may concern to review it and educate me on how in the hell they could help. I follewed that up with a a request to take all of my money and get me a freaking cable. The guy acted like he had never dealt with a biker before or this lame ass request.....are you kidding me? This is a SOS pal? Anyway the guy sold me a long cable for 21 or 27 bucks. The second company LADD I sent an email to jessea@laddinc.com She reffered me to 1-800-223-1236 customer service. NOW PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING. I called the number and got a most beautiful person on the phone by the name of KARI. She reviewed the website with me on the phone and noted it was not everything I need. Guys, it might not be I dont know. I have not recieved the 27 buck converter cable from the first company yet. LADD appears to be to supplier for the female data plug on our bikes. KARI TURNED ME ON! SHES HOT HOT HOT. She spelled it out, knew what the hell was going on and supplied with enough material to make 3 cables. She put together one herself! NOW SHE SENT ME a plug that plugs into our bikes. With 3 black wires terminated coming out of it. Again ill update this later when I get the other 27 dollar cable from the first company. I wana be clear. I talked to this woman about the detail of this, she knew what was up and hooked me up. I am in the process of sending a letter to her boss to treat her rightous and with as much respect as possible. I am in love with this woman and I only talked to her on the phone for 10 min! Now Ill update what happens next. They acted like this was the first time they have ever talked to a Buell rider but totally put this brother in some rightous feelings about their companys and the people they were. Damn if more companys gave 1/2 a damn.... (Message edited by mmmi_grad on March 30, 2008) |

Did you try a forum search? A google search for "ecmspy cable" gives you ten pages of hits also. As mentioned here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=142838&post=1093349#POST1093349 already, you might purchase the cable directly from the manufacturer, either single or bulk, if you don't find another source. (We did mention the manufacturer on our website, didn't we? There's even a link to them.) This is the direct link to FTDI's webshop: http://apple.clickandbuild.com/cnb/shop/ftdichip do a search for TTL and select the wire ended version. You could get the Deutsch plug from some ebay shops and from every Buell or Harley-Davidson workshop. They are also used widely in trucks, buses and agricultural vehicles. Or you may perhaps contact Deutsch IPD or LADD Inc. directly. All required part numbers could be found at the ecmspy website also. Regards, Gunter |

Don't know about your area you live, Deutsh connectors are easy enough to come by but the 232 TTL 5V cable is not,it is not the run of the mill USB cable. Your comment about "every Buell or H-D workshop is nonsense." The area I live in has the newest H-D training center in the U.S. and their graduates don't even know how to change oil let alone know how to diagnose electrical problems. They don't even have a Kent-Moore for the big twins and sure as hell won't acknowledge the fact ecmspy exist let alone think of letting there "tech's" work on a Buell. |

Well last year there was a guy that offered them here but no one had intrest and he was warned about selling them out of the sponsership rules of this board. Thats why I put up the info on how to obtain the materials and gave up on trying to find info here. Just got a run around at the Uk site and people there. One of the guys there that was selling the cable quit and refunded me a some money i sent him through paypal to tell me where I could get them. HE DIDNT KNOW!! Spring has sprung and the change is good. Damn timing is everything i guess. Good to see we have some people FINALLY on the subject here. Good luck!! |

he was warned about selling them out of the sponsership rules of this board. That's why I'm not interested in making them. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind helping out, but getting the parts and setting up to make the cable take more time than making the cable. If you have loaded ECMSPY on your computer and if you think you can locate and load the proper driver for the cable, then you already have enough technical knowledge to make your own cable! The cable comes from Mouser and the connector from e-bay. The part numbers have been posted repeatedly. Get the parts together and give it a try. If you run into trouble I and others will be happy to offer assistance. I promise that you are expending more energy trying to find a ready made cable than it takes to make the cable! |

I got my USB cable from mouser.com... Get the TTL-232R cable. I think it was $20. I had a VDSTS cable laying around so I just hacked the end off of that for the bike plug. The other solutions are to hack the bike side off and go to a hardware store and get whatever kind of four pin connector you'd like to use. |

Last September I called mouser on the phone and asked about a TTL-232R cable, the girl who answered said she didn't know what it was and transferred me to the "tech dept" and the reply I got from them was they never heard of such a cable...........go figure. Dealing with people like that is why I'd rather just pay someone to make one up for me and not have to deal with people who couldn't get a job as a greeter at Wal-Mart.
