Has anyone taken the rear peg mounts off? I tried to undo the allen head ,but felt as though it would strip the bolt. Does anyone have a pic of what it might look like on a xb12s?

They are Loctited on, they do come off. Check the pic in my profile. It's an Ss but you'll get the Idea.

The rear most bolts have nuts on the tops under the seat, I think they are 9/16th's, make sure you take them off first. The front ones don't have nuts on top, just locktight.

Thank you just trying to do a little work to clean it up and since that I ride alone figured I'd take them off. Looks very nice His and Hers. They belt guards are even off? No problems though?

Since that pic I have put a standard S upper belt guard on and trimmed down the humongous hugger/belt guard that is stock on the Ss. I'm thinking of putting the lower back on just to be safe now that the upper is cleaned up nicely. But to answer your question, no problems, but I haven't ridden on anything but clear hard roads.

Here's a profile shot of my tail section sans footpeg brackets and a modified upper belt guard:

Red, take off your seat. if i remember right the rear bolts do have a nut on them, as that bolt holds down your battery. you will need to put that bolt back in.

no they dont! at least i dont think they do. i have taking the rear pegs off a number of times with no problem.. i will look closer when i get home.

they are off the bike now, and when i took the battery out last week it was in very tight and not at all loose.

the Ss has wider seat rails and maybe they are just outside the battery tray

Just wanted to say that the top 2 bolts are held on w/ nuts that hold down the battery down I guess. Thanks for the help and this bike has a new appearance already and can't seem to quit smiling even @ work. Does the smiling go away?

Has anyone removed the passenger pegs off an xb12r? I am looking to do so. Thanks!
