If I have a top triple clamp from a firebolt what else do I need for a conversion and how much trouble is it (cable length and stuff) Also this is on an Ss, will it work or is steering head geometry all different? |

Are you doing a firebolt front end conversion? Top tree is what holds. the console for the lightning.. You can do Cross Roads clip on your stock bars if you move your console out.. I wish some one mad a spacer.. Cross road clip ons with the housing spaced out..
Free spirits kit through Trojan. note the spacer mounts to the top trip and moves the housing out?

not doing a full firebolt conversion, just want the clip ons. Is it going to be easier to just lower rise bar for the lightning. It won't be as low as I like but I'm sure it will be easier and cheaper. |

It would be easier but IMHO it would be a waste of time and money to gain so little I love my crossroads but if I had to do it again I would go clip ons and spaced out front housing.. A few people have done clip ons with spacing not sure of the brands and you can do club bars as well.. Crossroad clip ons with a spaced out housing.

If you want to go the whole Firebolt route:
It looks pretty cool. It takes a little effort to do it this nicely, but it's pretty cool when done. 1313 |

Yes, that's what I want, the factory look. Though it would have been nice if the ignition would have been able to stay on the top triple tree, especially since it looks even more like a pain in the a$$ to get to. Is this yours? (Message edited by His_and_her_buells on March 18, 2008) |

That's Pete's old bike. If that's the route you want to go... Odie (Special OPS) may be able to help you with modifying the gauge cluster mount. The key is a bit of a pain, but if you take the rubber off the key itself, it's all good. There's a bit of work to it, but if you're patient, and have a bit of skill with re-routing clutch cables, and fabrication, you'll do fine. We did one for Travis as well, it turned out well, you just have some things to worry about, like the brake reservoir, won't fit, it'll hit the fly screen before you can get the hand grip all the way on. A good solution for this is to use the XBRR one. You have to drill and tap a couple of holes to the front of the upper triple to mount the fly screen, and everything that goes behind it. It's just a bit more complicated than just swapping some parts out, but it's an awesome mod, once you're finished. I'm sure I've left some stuff out, it's been a while since we've done one. |

I say go for the firebolt clip-ons. I love mine. It was worth the little head ache to change it over. I love the new riding position. if you have any questions about the how to just let me know. thanks

how do you get the top triple clamp off...is it as simple as loosening the pinch screws and lifting up...or is there a trick to it?? im soon about to do the whole firebolt front swap. |

Br8knnex Don't mean to thread jack but where did you get that seat cowl? I've been looking for one that will fit over the select seat. |
