Friday I didn’t have to work so I met up with a few guys I served overseas with. Their combined ages are only 3 years over mine. SO! GSXR750, GSXR600 and my Cyclone... Then! HAMMERED R-1 joined. Finally! Pair of CBR600s joined. Me and the SQUIDS went for a ride. The SQUIDS did wheelies in the city! The SQUIDS did wheelies in the parking lot! The SQUIDS did wheelies on the highway! The SQUIDS did wheelies sitting on the tank! The SQUIDS did wheelies standing on the seat! The SQUIDS did burnouts! I fell back to the rear of the pack and just watched the show. It really was kind of fun while it lasted. It was getting late and I was getting kind of SQUIDded out, so I bailed at the end of one of their many smoke breaks. On the way home I couldn’t help floating the front tire away from a few corners and thinking at least a little of an old CBR900RR I saw for sale recently... Then I remembered that I am a 40 year old single father of 2 with a family to support. Plus, I don’t feel 10 feet tall and bullet-proof like I did when I was 21. Still... Even though I know I should, I doubt I will turn down the next SQUIDvitation. |

great story. even if you aren't invincible anymore, it doesn't mean you can't watch others who still think they are ! D |

Always fun to remember our misspent youth thru the actions of others. Nothing wrong in it, as long as you do remember you are not bulletproof!Squids are fun........ |

got to love the attitude. as much as i think that it's stupid to do wheelies on the road, i still think that it's still pretty cool cause i never really got the hang of it. just pulled up your profile and i have to love the bike that you ride also. (not that i would be partial to a grey/orange 02m2)and to me it's what ever keeps the heart pumping that makes me happy the most. sometimes it's cruising down the interstate on the ultra classic listing to metallica. a lot of times it's riding the m2. |

i for one cant say i am against doing wheelies on the street, because obviously i do. the main thing i have to say about it is that there is a time and place that it can be pretty safely done. in rush hour in the middle of traffic is not that time though. not that i have never hit a wheelie then, but they are usually a very low acceleration wheelie or something. not standing up balancing trying to weave between cars. |

I'm baited all the time by the squiders. I love my buell too much to put it down over a wheelie. I can no problem. But why risk it to just be pissed off when it hits the asphalt. |

The first thing the R1 rider said when he saw my Cyclone was, "DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE NEW BUELL?!" He knew the weight and HP stats. He thinks it would be the perfect stunt bike. Then when I fired up the M2 he yelled, "LISTEN TO THAT! TOTAL HARLEY!" Today's squids are tomorrow's Ultragliders. If Buell and HD can swing that transition, it might be a really good time to buy some undervalued HD stock. Bill |

I used to love to squidaround, but the cost of the machine and especially the cost of insurance and not forgetting the price of the judge if LEO finds a need to write a few tickets has basically stopped me. Maybe a power wheelie now and then. |

Folks: Squids are the reason Deal's Gap has become PO PO central. And to be fair, squids can be riding a chrome barge just as easily as a crotch rocket. I love to watch true stunters do their thing, as long as the risks are confined to themselves and their bikes. Squids, on the other hand, gotta do cold motor burnouts whilst bumping the rev limiter leaving Hooters. Hell, I'm off today- gonna ride out and hunt some squids at the Gap. Ride safe y'all, and keep it together for MBV!!!! |
