hey Maximum,

FWIW, Treadmarks and your bikes must idle a lot lower than mine, as i noticed from his and your square idle cells.

my bike ticks away in the 4 cells located in the 1000 and 1350 RPM & 15 and 20 TPS area. These are one row higher and one row further to the right. my ECMspys tach usually reads 1050-1100 RPM but does bounce higher at times.

also, how did you arrive at a square idle of 68 ?? ...just curious, 'cause Tread's was higher, iirc.

thanks,
john

Hey John,

I had that issue at first too. You have to lower you idle a little with the idle adjustment screw combined with some adjustments (increase) of the fuel map to find just the right combination. Might as well start the process with a fresh TPS reset. It takes a little experimenting to get it running good at a lower TP and idle, but it can be done. I am still trying to find the perfect settings for me, and although my square is working pretty well at 68, I will still be messing with it a little more until I am 100% happy (or until I have something better to do with my time)!

Thankx Max,

BTW, i realized the race ECM has a different EEPROM, and therefore different fuel maps altogether, but what is your rear map set at with regard to the squ. idle. i guess i'm interested in the relationship you established between the 2

John,

I am by no means an expert at this whole ECM Spy thing...but from everything that I have read and what I have tried...here is the deal.

Unless you are tuning on a Dyno, then whatever you do to the front...do the same to that same cell on the rear. In other words, if you add 4 to a cell in the front, then add 4 to same cell on the rear. If you average your 4 idle cells in the front to do the Treadmarks "Square" idle technique, then average the same four cells on the rear too.
